Just confirming -- is this enough for the wheel? Or do we have to see the spokes? (I'm probably overthinking....)

I finished the BOM last night - will do my post tonight when I get home - and it's a pretty easy read and not really "horror" to me if anyone else can get a hold of it.

Day 3: Chapters 11-159.Let’s talk about Cate. What could Grey have possibly said to her to make a mother hate her child? (If she is her child.) What do you think of Cate and Iris’ relationship? I think it was probably something that made her believe that Grey was not her daughter and possible a significant danger to Iris. Or it could have something to do with the death of their father?
10. What do you think causes the sisters to have the power of suggestion, or the power of the kiss, or whatever you call it? It seems strange that they would bring that power back from wherever they went, unless there was some being there that might have given it to them?
11. How do you feel about Grey's actions in the hospital and during the escape? She sure seems crazy. I'm sure she has her reasons, but I'm still not convinced she's the "good guy".
12. The girl says “It is in me…In her…In you.” What is in them? And, may I say, yuck. This story seems very myth-laden. Has anyone recognized the myth yet, or do you think this is an original one? Are you enjoying the story so far? (Is anyone else having a flashback to the creepy video in season one of True Detective, or is it just me?) I'm enjoying it for the most part, but I feel like the vagueness of "it" is getting tedious. I'd like to get some more info on what they are fighting.
And, just out of curiosity, has anyone done a Google search on the flowers yet? Not yet.... :)

Day 2: Chapters 6-105. Grey leaves her sisters a note that reveals the creepy guy is really a very bad person...that she's in peril. She provides a key and sends them to a super creepy apartment...'The missing sister, the dead body, the burned apartment, the gunshot wound, the armful of stolen artifacts. Even harder: the man in the skull, the flowers growing rampant in all the soft parts of a corpse.' What is your conclusion so far? I feel like Grey has made a few too many trips back to "the inbetween" and gotten herself into trouble somehow. I'm not sure yet if she's the baddie, or the people chasing her are.
6. Vivi and Iris find a diary from their father...his notes supporting the Vogue article with all kinds of rumors about the girls. What do you think about their father? Was he crazy? Are his girls dead?I don't know if they are dead, but they definitely came back different, and judging by how other people react to them as well, somewhat disturbing. It may have driven him mad, but I don't think he's altogether wrong.
7. What is with the flowers and vegetation found in the girls and around the girls? This organic, smelly stuff keeps showing up? What do you think is behind it?I'm guessing it has something to do with where they went or how they were changed, but it sounds kind of nasty.
8. Tyler shows up at the end of this section of our reading. There's an article referenced with mention of a disappearance. Someone else came back. What do you think is next? What will Tyler's role be...hero, bad guy, or is his appearance a cameo/distraction? Not sure yet, but I love his snarkiness with the sisters so far. I think the interaction between them all will be fun to watch.

Day 1 - prologue - Chapter 51. What sort of stuff do you like in your horror books? Do you like the slow pacing here?
That's a tough one...general creepiness, some peril for the MCs, not too much blood and gore, and weird things that don't make sense until they do. I know that's vague, but horror books are a lot tougher to describe and write than movies, I think.
2. What do you think of the sister's and their relationship with each other? It seems very sisterly. Each one has a specific role, they back each other over outsiders (even Mom) and count on each other. They have a tight relationship, even if it may not be a healthy one.
3. We are getting hints about the strangeness around the Hollow girls, and at what happened to them. What are your suspicions? Would you be like Cate with her daughters, and not push at the memories overtly or dig actively? I feel like the digging has already gone on, and not been successful, so Cate has just accepted it and decided to not push. I'm feeling some fae are involved, but that's just due to the earthy overtones, and general weirdness -- those fae are odd ducks.
4. The descriptions (of Grey's clothing in particular!) is very atmospheric. Are you enjoying the descriptive language used? I'm a big EWW for the descriptions of the clothing, but the writing is very effective. I'm feeling the general dread and weirdness.

Hello team! I'm StaceyC checking in. I'm (normally) in North Carolina in the states, but for the next week will be on vacation with some spotty internet so you may not see me much until we get started next weekend. I will read pretty much anything -- although cozy mysteries and high fantasy and I don't usually get along too well. I have both BOMs on request at the library, so hoping they come in sometime this month.
I've played wheel before, but I think I've skipped the last 2 rounds, so may have some questions once we get started.
Here's my shelf: https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...
I'm excited to get started!
Since it sounds like teams will not be ready before next week, can one of the mods please make a note by my name that I may be late checking in for my team, please? I will be leaving Saturday (10/2) for Yellowstone for a week, and cell/wifi service is historically spotty. Plus I will be traveling with friends who will actually expect me to interact and NOT be reading ::eye roll:: so my GR time may be limited. I will be back on 10/9 to start. Thank you!
Just finished and logged my last book for the month! I can't believe we are done tomorrow. Thanks to the Captains and Co-Captains for keeping us all in line and working well together. See you all next Tower Teams! :)
I have now uninstalled/reinstalled 3 times, and no better -- once it wouldn't even let me get logged in. I sent a tech support request and got an email that they should get back to me within 2 weeks! :oSo Scribd and I might not last very long. And it sounds like there are some limitations I didn't know about. Thanks for all the feedback. :)
Does anyone else have any good sources for audiobooks? My library has the popular books, but not so much the romances I'm trying to find.
This is a long shot but I think I remember some of you use Scribd? I decided to try this as I love me some audiobooks and Audible is killing me now that they got rid of the romance package. I downloaded the Scribd app, but it keeps shutting down every time I try to listen or read a book I've selected or even navigate away from the homepage. Has anyone else run into this problem? I'll try their tech support when I get home, but I thought maybe someone here might have a suggestion.
A necromancer just showed up in
which I'm already reading -- so rather than start another book for that task, I switched it. That was a happy surprise. :) I've gotten
from the library-- will probably start that tonight or tomorrow but will have to work it around some others, so may take a bit to finish.
Is this enough of a skeleton to count?
Oh, and my current book, Luca has an E character. I'll go updated the SS. :)
