I haven't given any books 5 stars during this challenge other than my Harry Potter re-reads, but a few that's I've really enjoyed (4 stars) are:

For the quiz, I wish for the question "who would be your favourite student", they actually had the names instead of the movie pictures. For someone who hasn't seen all the movies, I actually only recognized half the characters.

Hard to know exactly where I am because I’m doing this one on audio and there are no chapter numbers.

(view spoiler)[So is this kid what happens when a luxen and a hybrid/human have a baby??? He’s young and seems powerful so its a possibility. Also Daemon said he reminded him of Luc so maybe they are the same, whatever that is. Luc was also mentioned being pretty young, even though he seemed really powerful.

I was surprised that Blake’s death was so sudden. Was expecting more of a drawn out storyline but I guess he’s not the big enemy anymore.

Is Archer a double agent? He’s definitely more sympathetic than the others they’ve interacted with. (hide spoiler)]

This is finally getting good!

If this one ends on a cliffhanger too I’ll probably also join for the next one, although I was going to try to squeeze in a harry potter before my next buddy reads start.

Finished Chapter 35

I read the riddle a dozen times and ran through a lot of ideas and I think I have a guess, so I'm gonna put it here and see if I'm right.

I loved Nannette! I definitely laughed and cried and would recommend to everyone.

I've started this one but not very far in. Also very excited to see that it's got both POV.

Should be finishing this one today. Couldn't put it down last night and read until 2am.

(view spoiler)[The Beauty and the Beast parallels are becoming very strong. The curse has been revealed and I was interested to read about all the history that led to it. Of course just like in the fairy tale, Tam sent her away because he loves her and upon realizing he was in danger, she made her way back to his house. I wonder what would have happened if she had said she loved him before she left. I guess that would have been too easy though.

Was very interested seeing that Nesta remembered everything. Hoping she will show up at a later time. Would like to see how her life plays out. (hide spoiler)]

My thoughts from before I realized there was a developing romance were along the lines of: maybe her mother and Tamlin were brother and sister, or that he was Feyre's biological father. Looks like I'm way off base though. I kind of would prefer that to a romance though. I don't really "get" these books with an immortal character who is many decades or even hundreds of years older than the other one. Just because someone looks young, doesn't mean they are young. Although if it's written well enough I can usually be made to forget about that aspect of it. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[I did not read the book description before starting this one, so I had no idea what the storyline was. I see now that this book is a Beauty and the Beast retelling, which is one of my favourite fairy tales. And after reading Chapter 12, I can see how Tamlin can be seen as a romantic interest. Before that, I wouldn't have necessarily seen it going that way. I hope that Feyre and Lucien are only friends and we don't get any romance jealousy there.

Since she can't read or write, I'm thinking instead of books, painting will be used as a bonding experience between them. Maybe all those paintings she's been admiring are painted by Tamlin.

I agree that Tamlin's wording when talking about Feyre's mom suggests some prior relationship between the two, which would explain why he saved her life and offered her the chance to live with him in luxury, instead of just killing her or allowing her to be killed by others, which seems much more in line with dealing with a human who just killed someone you were close with. They can't be related, if there is to be a romance, but I don't see how they could have been friends, unless her mother was a faerie also? In which case, her sisters would also be part faerie.

I also don't understand how she can stand to be so idle in the house, when all her time before was taken up by trying to survive. She should be bored out of her mind. I'm surprised she hasn't asked about painting yet.

I loved Gone Girl but I also read it when it first came out and there wasn't as much hype. I also read Dark Places awhile back and thought it was really twisted. I liked it but didn't love it. So I'm curious to see how I'll feel about this one.

Just read up to Chapter 6 (so I can read the discussion questions from when this was BOM, lol)

I'm liking it so far. Like all fantasy books, I'm going slowly because I always have a hard time immersing myself into new worlds. I learned when I was reading the Kate Daniels series that the more I can get into the intricacies of the world, the better I enjoy the book.

Looking at the Goodreads series page though, I'm kind of wishing I had waited to start this one and read the Throne of Glass series instead. It looks like Book 7 (the last one) in that series is due to be released later this year, but there are only 3 books out in this one and 3 more listed to be written still. Knowing myself, by the time those are written, I'm going to have to re-read all the previous books anyway because I never remember what happens after a couple of years.

(view spoiler)[I hated how, based on a promise to a mother, who didn't even sound very loving, Feyre spends all her time doing all the work of keeping her family alive, while they sit around being useless and insulting her. Wanted so bad for her to just leave and let them fend for themselves and see how they like it. I guess, with her going with that fae, they will have to. I wonder if we will get a viewpoint on what is happening with them or if we'll only be following Feyre from now on. Her family was given enough personality that I suspect that won't be the last we see of them. The oldest sister seems to have the backbone to keep her other sister alive. (hide spoiler)]
