35559 I can't remember who recommended Bird Box by Josh Malerman to me, but holey cow was it a creepy read! It was really, really well done and it has to be another favourite for me in 2014.

35559 Great idea ST! I've already added a couple of yours to my TBR list

My favourites for 2014 were:

The Deep End of the Sea The Deep End of the Sea by Heather Lyons I absolutely loved the portrayal of the Greek Gods in this book - one big dysfunctional family. Also the use of Medusa as our heroine I think was something different.

Angelfall Angelfall (Penryn & the End of Days, #1) by Susan Ee and its sequel World After World After (Penryn & the End of Days, #2) by Susan Ee - I think you already know my love for this series.

Daughter of Smoke & Bone Daughter of Smoke and Bone (Daughter of Smoke & Bone, #1) by Laini Taylor - this story just sucked me in!

Gone Girl Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn - the audible version of this was so well done. The male and female narrators just brought the book alive for me and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Leviathan Wakes Leviathan Wakes (Expanse, #1) by James S.A. Corey - great sci-fi adventure

And finally, I just finished Sempre Sempre (Forever, #1) by J.M. Darhower which was the book I chose for the Bottom of My TBR pile book for our unofficial challenge - what an amazing surprise this book turned out to be - I have already purchased the sequel :)

35559 Anyone who's missed the BR earlier in the month for The Martian, some of us are starting it on the 1st January if anyone wants to join in the BR.

35559 Yay!!! I might post on the BR thread that we will be restarting the BR for The Martian, in case anyone else missed it earlier.

35559 Thanks for the link Renee!

Welcome to the world of sci fi and PNR V, I hope you enjoy the ride ;)

Shall we start The Martian on the 1st or is that too early?

35559 Me too, everyone seems to have good things to say about it :)

I found the BR thread, it was read earlier this month. We still might be able to get people to comment on it though :)

I see you are reading The Martian for 2015. I've just bought it myself, should we see if we can get a BR going for it?
35559 I would be happy to take part in a BR for this in Jan. Anytime is good for me, but would prefer mid to late Jn.

35559 Oh I am so glad you liked it!!!! I will have to reread the second one so I can remind myself where it left off before the third one comes out in 2015.

And to answer your other question I got :
Adoration by Doris Lessing Bittersweet by Colleen McCullough Neil Patrick Harris Choose Your Own Autobiography by Neil Patrick Harris First Impressions A Novel by Charlie Lovett Have You Seen Simone? The Story of an Unsolved Murder by Virginia Peters Life After Death by Damien Echols The Replacement Wife by Eileen Goudge Shadows (The Rephaim, #1) by Paula Weston .
Oops, looks like it was actually eight books. It was naughty of me considering the already ridiculous number of books collecting dust waiting to be read on my eReader, but I couldn't resist.

35559 no books for me, but due to the limited space in my house i only do ebooks anyway, so my family would know not to buy me any. however I bought myself 7 books on boxing day as Kobo had a sale on :)
