Day 1 DQ’s
1- Although Valentia feels shame in her actions to confront Luzia and her magic she still threatens her to use it at her dinner party. What were your thoughts and do you feel bad for Valentia and her desperation?

I do empathise, but she's not making great decisions. She could get her husband drunk more often for some sexytimes, or generally be less waspish towards her staff.

2-Valentia did not want Luzia to leave the house and gave her extra chores. Why do you think Valentia did not want Luzia to leave the house?

She needs to control Luzia in order to exploit her magic to improve their lives.

3-How did using music and song to make Luzia magic work make you feel or think of.

Tying it to something more than just nebulous "the power" makes it a more solid concept - allows for growth with better music / other words.

4- Don Victor(De Paredes) shows up at Casa Ordobos to make sure Luzia has a room with and even hints at having her join him if not. Why do you think having Luzia in her own room benefits either of them?

For him, it should help to get Luzia on board with him as a good guy (at no expense or inconvenience to himself - sneaky!); for her she now gets the illusion of freedom and betterment attached to the use of magic which might make her relax her guard to do more (which is good for him again!)

@Kaley re Gale - that's the bit about Gale I never really got - his hatred for The Capitol is so visceral but it didn't particularly seem like his life was a step-change worse than any of the other mining families, so this all-consuming bitter anger didn't really ring true for me, and made him a less believable character.

I've gone to D6 to ask if they would be returning another ONE if we send Sarah's. If they do, we might as well send Sarah's and then have LaurLa for after that.

ETA: I'm negotiating Sarah's The One, then they've another ONE book, which we'd respond to with LaurLa's One... Summer.
