35559 Okay. I have an hour of downtown and I am attacking this book. Can't wait to dive in and see what it's all about!

35559 I think our team feel a little in the rankings. I want to get us back up.

Goal: 250 Points

Have you thought about how you are going to organize the forum there? Like two different pages one for each team? Or would each person have one?

35559 I'm really excited for the potential of point goals and for the alliance. I really want to see both of our teams get more points and I think we could help each other a lot.

35559 I really, really like that idea! It would be fun for me to try something different, most of the points I've earned are coming from the books that are 161 to 450 page category.

35559 I was also wondering if our group would want to have some of our own goals. Like maybe goals for how many books we read in a week (as a group) or how many buddy reads or books of the month we do in a month.
It might just be more work than it is worth, but from a psychology point of view, if we start writing down and keeping track of a team goal it could help us to meet it. Also, it might be nice to be able to be proud of that progress rather than annoyed at groups having a zillion points (which is where I am right now, haha).

35559 Unfortunately, December 4th to the 9th is dead week and finals for me. So I won't be able to do much reading. However, I have a month off school starting on December 12th so I should be able to get us some serious points.

35559 I've been slacking on my reading. I think it's because I read more since we started than I normally do in months.
I'm back though, and I was lucky to get picked to do daily questions so I will get us some points that way.
The semester is almost over and I'm considering posting the books i will finish before finals, but I kind of feel like text books are a cheap shot.

Thanks! I'm excited to write the questions. I can do any of the days, so just fill me in where you need someone.
35559 Laura- I've been wanting to comment something very similar but I couldnt' come up with what to say. You said it perfectly. I liked the fact that Ruth didn't have to be a mom because she didn't want to be. It showed an uncommon strength.

Also, I'm going to be annoyed in the next book if she suddenly has some great romance with her baby daddy. She has so many confidence issues that she needs to be with someone who will build her up to be confident and positive, not someone who will love her and their kid but then cheat on her.

I really liked the archeology in this book and I was determined to read the rest of the series because I thought this was well written. Yet, the ending has me questioning if I want to continue.

35559 I got a competitive feeling suddenly and I really want us to do well now. I'm hoping we hear from the Army Ants soon.

Also, I'm going to do 3 buddy reads soon (2 on the 23 and one on the 24th)
The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles, #1) by Marissa Meyer Winter's Bone by Daniel Woodrell
35559 I'm also joining!
35559 I'm going to join as well!

35559 I also listen to them when walking. I love a mile from campus and listen when I go to and from my house.

Great! I will let you know what I think! So far, so good. It's a quick read so I'm hoping to finish tomorrow.

35559 I usually finish one book every two weeks. Starting this has really made me pick it up. I have also recently started listening to audio books. I can get through about one in a week because I like to listen to them at double speed (though that hasn't been very helpful with my goal to start speaking slower).

I am currently reading Linger (The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #2) by Maggie Stiefvater . I didn't realize it is the second in the series, but I am about halfway through at this point. So, I'll probably read the third and then go back and read the first. It's a YA, which can really be hit or miss or me.

35559 Karla- I agree about the other thread. When you said you wouldn't be checking it, I was glad to not go there anymore.

I love book suggestions and I often get them just by seeing what others are reading. So posting books here is my favorite.

35559 I like the alliance idea.

Margaret, I was wondering the same thing. Earlier today I ran a correlation between points and number of posts on the forum... and there is a correlation. Although, it could just be because teams post more when they are writing what they read.
35559 26. Would you have called Nelson right away if you received a text message from a murderer or would you have tried to ignore it?
I probably would have gone straight to the police station. I was waiting for Ruth to have a bigger reaction than she did.
