I'm Beth, I'm stay-at-home and I like reading different things; SF and romance and fantasy and kidlit.I live near Seattle Washington so I have access to several wonderful library systems, so I'm good at finding books to fill in specific words or letters.
My tower shelf is Tower8
Thanks for being a great team! (And thanks for coming on board for the last round, Wolf!) We ended up in 4th place in the Molten category, which seems good to me! I mean, I never really looked at the scores until it was over, but we did really well!
OK, I managed to build the giant words"OR" and "A" from our reading this week. Clearly I am no scrabble wiz!
I also read Trail of Lightning by Rebecca Roanhorse. T

S (series)
M H (character Maggie Hoskie)
K A (character Kai Arviso)
Woot! We have finished Safe Zone Group 1! Now we can see if we can make words out of anything else we finish. We've already read 15 books this month, so really we only can have 5 more to fit in our category. Some high value words:
I
A (we can do this several times, although only worth 30 points)
Is
In
On
Of
Wolf, are you OK with this plan? *Maritza's President Daddy goes in for B.
* Chava's The Executioner goes in for R
* Your's One Grave at a time is for you.
When Chava and Wolf finish we can see if we can get anything for Stage 2. We only want five letters there so we don't go over our level. So no big rush.
Chava, shall we grab Maritza's book for BROWN? We can't use any books that we finish for Group 3 if we also want to do Group 1, but Maritza's book would work for the letter B.That leaves R and O, and Wolf was going to do One Grave At a Time for O. She's also signed up for an R, but we could move your Executioner book there.
Does that sound like a plan?
Also, does this book look OK? Taking Cover: One Girl's Story of Growing Up During the Iranian Revolution. It's published by the chlidren's arm of National Geographic, but I think it's YA. No age limits are on the MPG, although it is tagged YA much more than children's on the next page.
Hmm, even if it is ruled a kids book it has >40,000 words, so I think that means it's OK. I'm using it for my N as I'm not liking that one much.
I'm finished!Wolf, since that was the last book in our countdown, I went ahead and updated yours as well. We have jumped out of the Echidna Danger and into the SAFE ZONE!
I'm still hoping we come up with something for Group 1. In the meantime, we can start new books and try to fit them into Group 3, but we can't FINISH those until we have spelled out BROWN for Group 1.
The countdown timer ends in a bit over three days:ZERO for round 4 is Thursday 3rd October, 9pm AEST for ALL teams. Countdown is here
I'm assuming Thursday is a typo for Tuesday. I'm almost done with the 4th book, so I'll shout out here and on spreadsheet when it's finsihed.
I hope you are doing something fun, Chava. Keep track of when you start books since anything you start after me and Wolf finish our books can be used in the Safezone! I will finish tomorrow, but I have a game party to go to so it might not be until the evening.
OK, I moved my art knife book to complete the late-in-series spot, and put Maritza down for the spiky task.Chava has a plan for the Mediterranean task.
Maritza has a plan for the 4th of the Month task, and I am back-up.
Wolf, do you want me to sub in the Bound by Ice: A True North Pole Survival Story book I read for something else for the Adventure-tag task? It's already done.
Looking ahead for when we finish the countdown, anyone have any ideas what to read for BROWN? We need at least one person to hunt up a BOM book or a book some other team has used. Also, we can't FINISH any books for Group 3 until the BROWN books are done (we can start them as soon as the Countdown 10 are done), so ideally those would be books we finish rather quickly. Hmm, my pick is actually a rather fat book, maybe I should see if I have anything shorter...

Yay!
Well, those are spike heels, right? That seems spiky to me. Do you want me to ask in the "Does This Fit This Task" thread?
We still need8. Author from Mediterranean
7. 7 or higher in series (I have an audio, but only half done)
6. Adventure (I think Wolf is almost done with this one)
4. Published on 4th of month (I just started one here)
My book for
10. Spikey thing on cover also works for #7, so if anyone has a book with something spiky on it we can switch out for that.
Also, I read Bound by Ice: A True North Pole Survival Story which I just noticed is tagged "Adventure" so if Wolf is hating Treasure Island she can bail. Or if the cover has any pirates waving spiky things like daggers we can move things around.
Chava, Maritza, do you have any more books planned for this week? We usually get until Sunday to finish so I think we are still on track, unless the mods get mean...
So, I got a cold or something and reading has been going very slowly. I'm hoping to finish my mystery tomorrow (meant to be done today, oops). I'm even further behind on my audio, ack, but I've skipped some errands and had less driving time.I have found something published on the 4th of the month, so when I'm finally done I'll start The Cobbler's Boy.
Also, the mystery I'm reading for task 10 is the 16th in a series, so it can be swapped in for task Task 7. If anyone else wants to read something with something spiky on the cover, we can swap around.
Woot! Thanks for joining this team Wolf!I have started both of my books and will probably finish one tomorrow, but the audio is going slow (for #7, 7 of higher in the series). So if someone else finishes something that fits please just grab that from me off the spreadsheet.
I know it's early, but do we want to look at the Safe Zones? Zone 2 still looks beyond me but do we want to try Zone 1? Remember we can't start these books until we finish the countdown.
We need one of the five to be a book from the BOM lists or from another's teams spreadsheet. Do we want to fill out possibilities that we have (but won't start yet) and see if we can do it?
Whew!I've grabbed my spot for my next book.
My audio this week is the last Aurora Teagarden book, so it works for Task 7. But it's CD only and I can only listen in the car at regular speed so it probably won't be done until Friday or even later. I'm going to go ahead and grab that spot but if anyone else is reading something that fits you can steal it from me since it will take me ages.
