The boy thing was mostly because I had just strong-armed my brother into maybe joining the team, but I'm not sure he even has a goodreads account and he hates following rules, so he was sorta a last ditch option. We'd much rather have you!

I made another attempt at sharing the spreadsheet.

And to be clear, this is not my brother, which is good because it turns out my bro isn't sure he has a goodreads account. I would have forced him to make one, but it's better to have a REAL PLAYER. Welcome, Wolf (Alpha).

If just clicking on that link didn't get you access you can send one of us your email and we can add you directly. I think I had to do that for some of us. I don't know why -- it says anyone with the link can access but I guess some people are more equal than others...

Chava, if you didn't finish we need to turn ourselves in, because I wasn't paying attention and didn't really notice that you weren't done yet. I used it to make a word!

And Maritza is right -- this challenge is very strict and can't use books from one week to the other. Anything started last week is no good to us in Round 4 -- Echidna season!

One of our team members has been AWOL for all on Round 3, so we are looking to replace him. I will PM the mods if/when we find a replacement.

Team Not Yet, Spreadsheet here

Wow, this week we overshot and landed in Crater territory (we read 11 books in the second week, 12 if I finish this one I'm holding).

I was whining about my team being short at family dinner this weekend and my brother said he could probably read 2-3 books in the next few weeks. I'll show him the spreadsheet to see what he thinks. He doesn't use goodreads much but since he's my brother he can't escape me!

Oh, I guess we should grab spots for books on round 4.

OK, the spreadsheet now has my best attempt at using all our books, and I think I somehow messed things up because some of the letters aren't getting the right points. I'm going to go hide in my closet now and then I guess get up the nerve to creep over to tell the moderators that something is wrong.

I have a call out on the team thread but it's not looking good -- two other teams ahead of us called for a replacement this week. If we have any friends who read we can pull them in; I think the next two weeks is the last, right? Anyone know someone up for a two week challenge?

With one day left, will we have any more books to make letters with? Or should I mess around with what we have?

I should finish an "I" book, so I'm changing WAS to WITH. Partly because we don't seem to be getting points for the letter A.

No nibbles on a replacement yet.

Finished Bad Boys of Fashion: Style Rebels and Renegades Through the Ages by Jennifer Croll. Not sure where it fits in though.

I played around a little with our letters. I think the smart teams make a new tab to the spreadsheet for that, but I don't dare!

Anyway, I know have us looking for both "N" and "S". Maritza, you came up with "U" and "Y" -- you are doing great!

I left "A" up there because it seems like so many books have an "A" lying around in characters or something. So if anyone wants to fill that in for another accidental read go for it.

If we trip across an "I" I think we can move WAS to WITH. One of our As is also an H.

OK, if Chafic doesn't show up by tonight, I will advertise in the Find a Team Thread for a replacement. Although we can also pull in friends, so if you know anyone up for a super short challenge, let me know! I looked at the FAQ and we just have to PM the mods to make the switch.

Say 10 hours from now I'll advertise, so Chafic has until then to show up, or if you guys have someone in mind speak up.

Any good "N" characters in The Chain?

For now I put it down as the word "A"

OK, so we've got USA spelled out (I looked at another team's spreadsheet and they were using it as a word, so I guess it's OK?) and now we just need an N for ANY.

We've got three days, so I have hope.

Any ideas for other words?

It's in a task as U.S.A. There aren't a lot of Us available. What do you think?

I currently have us working on two words:

USA

and

ANY

Because Maritza reads super high powered words and I'm greedy. But we've got three books up there -- Maritza's U and Y and my A. We can build ANY from them, so if we don't read anything else we have something. But I'm hoping to get another S to make U.S.A. (I think that's a legal word) and another A and a N for ANY.

I will for sure finish a book that works for S. The other one I'm reading is dragging a bit. What are the chances of us getting another A and another N?

Still no sign of Chafic -- I guess he has a lot of mansions to inspect. Do we want to look for a replacement for the next round? Is that the last one?
