Hey, I'm right there with you. I have just over 2,000 books in my house and I've only read just under half of them.
When looking for a house, I told my husband if he wanted a garage then I get a room for my books. Thankfully we found a house that got us both what we wanted. Of course now the book room is getting very full to the point I had to buy a few extra shelves for the room. Here's a few pictures.

I'm going to start with Blood Promise.
I'm in the middle of a series reread of the VA books and have the last 3 left (which nicely are the longest 3 in the series).
I have a question.Due to this being a challenge with a max number of books, I'm wondering if I should be putting the smaller books I read on the 'Extra Books' tab?
Mostly wondering because I tend to break up the regular length books I read with smaller ones (under 200 pages). Because we have a max number of books, I'm assuming these would be the least desirable ones to use due to them being short.
So I wondered if I should just stick them on the 'Extra Books' tab from the get-go, that way the captains are just grabbing them if we need them at the end.
Oh, just an FYI. I am mostly a mood reader so I will add books as I know I will be picking them up. I tend to change my mind a lot so I try not to plan too many in advance.

A little late but here are my recommendations of some of my favorites from the last year or so (sticking to standalones or first books in a series).Mystery/Thrillers
Romance
Sci-Fi/Fantasy
Hello everyone! I'm Melanie and I live in New Jersey with my husband and our two cats. I work in finance at a publisher and have thankfully been working from home for the last 2 years (my introverted self loves not having to go into an office everyday). I've participated in a bunch of challenges in this group and others so I recognize a few of you from past challenges.I primarily read romance (historical, contemporary, or suspense mostly) and mystery/thrillers. I also will pick up the occasional sci-fi or urban fantasy but I pretty much avoid high/epic fantasy and classics. I also don't read a ton of YA anymore but I'll pick up some now and again. Working from home means my audiobook listening is pretty much non-existent these days as I usually just have the TV on while I work.
I'm looking forward to this challenge starting, it's become one of my favorites over the years (although I think Wheel may always hold that top spot).

Hey, I'm on track! I think this is the first time I wasn't already behind by this point.
Yeah, I'm down by roughly half on my backlog from where I was a year ago so I'm getting there. Just slow progress working them in with my other reads. I try to get in a few a month so I'm hoping to have them cleared by later this year.
Kristie wrote: "I finally got my oldest book off my shelf!..."Congrats! That's the goal I'm working towards but I still have 30 past pub. date books. I've mostly stopped taking new books until I can clear the majority of it.
Vicki Willis wrote: "Does NG tell you ahead of requesting that it is a protected pdf?..."Yes, the information is on the book's page below the description. It says "Available on NetGalley" and then lists the formats available below that. It's easy to miss since it's at the bottom of the page and not near the request button.
Like last year I am going to work on finishing/catching up on the series I'm in the middle of (with less than 5 books) that I physically own, I'd like to get to 50 of them.Completed: 16/50

Well I only ended up getting to 16 out of the 50 I wanted to off of this year's list. I read a lot this year (almost 300 books), just didn't happen to be the books I put on this list. So I will move them to next year's list and hopefully get to more of them.
Sorry I missed checking in the last couple of days. Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone!I had a great time with Wheel this time around. Thanks to the captains/co-captains for keeping on top of everything!
