Also, thanks to the Captains and Co-Captains for keeping myself and everyone else in line. We should definitely all be in challenges again. :). Maybe they should just keep our team together for next time so that we could go for it all.
Thanks so much for being such an awesome team! This was a fun one. Y’all rocked out those BOM’s. I read a few but I just couldn’t get through that fourth wing one.

DQs Day 3 - The Australian Open (58%)9. Gwen sends Carrie a gift the start day of the Australian Open…a Discman! The first song it plays is ‘The Bitch is Back’…I love this album. I immediately went to play me some Elton John tunes😊 Do you have a song or routine that gets you revved up…sets a tone to put you in the right state of mind?
So, I listen to angry rock music. I feel the music gets my brain in the right place to workout and it helps me through tough times at work.
10. Reflections--
Carrie thinks…I inhabit the silence of this moment with my father, when we are still asking questions and do not yet have to live with the answers. What do you think she means at this moment in time with that comment?
"Te quiero mucho, pichona," he says.
I open up my eyes, "I know. I love you too."
Javier and Carrie both have many reflective moments throughout these matches… Is this a premonition of what’s to come with the open or even more in the future?
I thought it was a premonition to what was going to happen.
12. We hear from the media in various forms throughout. What are your thoughts about some of their comments so far? Do you believe any of them have affected Carrie or the game? I was thinking about this especially when Gwen indicates Elite Gold was pulling back some of their ads prior to the French Open. Gwen has a role in her job with managing all of this…what are your thoughts about the impact of media and advertising with sport?
Media tends to be like that which is sad but I thought it was normal.
I think Carrie just has to come to terms with the craziness of the media.
13. Carrie’s been doing some very smart training thanks to her father. She’s been practicing in recent weeks with Bowe on clay and Bowe has challenged her, calling her a ‘quitter’. And here at the end of this segment, she’s just had a challenge from Nikki Chan. Is she going to win? Is Nikki? What do you anticipate happening in Paris?
I've finished the book so I can't answer this part.

DQs Day 2 - The Comeback (40%)5. Welcome back sports fans! If any of you have read other Taylor Jenkins Reid's novels, you know she loves looking back at interesting eras in time. The Golden Age of Hollywood! 70s rock and roll excess! Why do you think TJR chose to focus on 90s sports for this novel? Do you think it was only to bring Carrie back or do you think there was something special about sports during that time?
I think it was the golden age of sports at that time. So many great athletes were in the 90's and I think that's why she chose this time period.
6. In this section we are introduced to Bowe. What do you think about him? Do you think he is a good match for Carrie (in sports or romantically)?
I've finished the book but I thought he was a good match for Carrie at this time.
7. In this section, there is a letter from the editor entitled "Why I'm Thankful for Carrie Soto" in which the author, Helene, says that Carrie was inspiring to her as a child. Do you find inspiration in any sports legends past or present? If so, who and why?
I really find inspiration in Kerri Struggs? from the 96 Olympics. Her finishing that vault on one foot showed anyone can do hard things when they want it bad enough.
8. Up next is the Australian Open! Any predictions on what is going to happen in the next section of the book? Also how are you enjoying the book so far?
I've finished the book and forgot about the questions. It wasn't bad. I liked how it was going.
I joined that challenge too! I'm not on a team yet that I know of if anyone wants to put me on their team. I think I signed up for 4 books a week. The fall is going to get busy for me so my reading may be crazy but it looked like it could be fun.
I finished a red book but I don't think we need it anymore for the HP tasks but its MPG Humor so it will work that set.
Well, we may have to leave that sloth right there and work on the other two and then maybe we will get lucky and get some other faster ones. I'll knock out a red book this morning.
Finished the crime book! I have all day to read and listen to audiobooks so I can help knock out a few wheel tasks today for more points.
I'll take the crime book. I have one on audio that I can listen to today but I won't get it updated until tomorrow. Bout to do a little road trip to hang out with family and I should be able to listen to a couple books on my chipmunk speed today.
Sorry for your loss Shy. Spend the much needed time with your family.I'm going to be in the car for about 7 hours tomorrow on a quick trip so I'll get a couple books done while I'm driving.
I’m at work and can’t update on the spreadsheet but I finished the first book of the spin off original series if someone is able to put it on the spreadsheet and then y’all might be able to move that task along today. I won’t be home until after 5 pm eastern time to do it myself. I think I have it marked correctly from my phone app.
Cool, I'll read that before bed and finish in the morning. We had meatballs, veggies, and quinoa. It's sort of a bowl thing. Cookies sound good too. It's a show on Netflix based on the book series by Sherryl Woods. I read that series long before the shows came out and it's a cute romance series.
Yeah, I can honestly say that I'm not a fan of Star Wars or Star Trek or any of those things and those murderbots...boy do I suffer through those things when I have to read those. I do enjoy cupcakes though. She writes romance books. She has a hockey series, a country series, a hollywood series, and a few others. She's started connecting the second generation with each other from various families which is fun to read. Plus, for me, these books are super fast to read.
Yay for being done with phone calls. I'm done for the day, ate dinner, washed dishes and now going to catch an episode of Sweet Magnolia's. I'm working my way through season 3.
Ohhhhhh, quick question? I finished Mine to Take yesterday and such a good book. I'm really loving Natasha Madison. I realized that I hadn't finished the This Is series by her and this book has the child of one of the couples in the This Is series which would make this one a spin-off series, correct? If that's the case, I can knock out the parent book tonight and we should be able to put those two in there. It even says in the precis that this book brings two other series together.
I can work on the wheels. I read pretty fast and with two of the five days being weekend days, I should be able to knock some things out. My problem has been that I don't enjoy sci-fi or cozy mystery books and I feel some of these wheel tasks have gone more into that realm. I'm going to see what original and spin-off books that I can find to maybe knock out tonight and tomorrow. If I can find something under the 200 page point, I should be able to get them done pretty fast.
I think grim reaper and Hades should definitely work. I like title with elves in it. It’s creative and we do tasks like that a lot. I have Fourth Wing on audio but if I need to I can do Jane Eyre in audio before the end of the week. It’s a full week of at least 2 hrs in the car everyday. I have a couple more of that fast series I was knocking out that begin with I’s.
It's not as tough to listen to as some of the others that I've done but I'm not a huge fan of sci-fi, fantasy, and horror. I can do certain styles but this one just isn't it for me but I'll get it done for the points.
I bet we make our page counts. I'm going to put that evil Fourth Wing book on audio this week and hope for the best. I need to go answer my other BOM questions.
