Two good books with a cow on the cover are:
Moo by
Jane Smiley (many editions have a pig rather than a cow) is a humorous look at academia from the point of the educators rather than the students. It's hilarious IMHO.
The classic young adult book
The Book of the Dun Cow by
Walter Wangerin Jr.
I absolutely loved it. I have no idea why it's tagged as Christian because as a kid I didn't notice that, but I suspect it's an allegory. But even as a non-Christian, I highly recommend it.

How is everyone doing? Overwhelmed by our new mini? It helps me because there are books I have to read for other challenges that now should have a place to land. Remember, we can have as many partial words as work out, so while we should shoot for completion, it's totally okay if we don't.
If you're having any trouble finding books to fit one of the tasks, can I help out? Is there any motivation or assistance you need to make things easier? I'm happy to help, just let me know.

Great job to you two who set them up so quickly!

That's funny. I read about the cheese and our completion in the same few minutes. :)
Thanks, Judy! I know the cheese thing is time consuming.

Welcome, Bee! Glad to have you! I'm sorry you've had a tough year, Hopefully TT will be a relaxing escape. We could use a book from Algeria for our itinerary. It's a level 3 country!

Yay!

I'm back and I'm starting Fish on a Bicycle now so just another day or two and I'll have the task done.
Hey everyone, we've finished our first month! How does everyone feel? I think we've been doing a fantastic job, getting several Mini 3 countries, traveling all over with Mini 1 and accomplishing tons of tasks with Mini 2. You are all working really hard to fill up those really difficult spots and I'm really happy to be on such a great team!

If anyone is trying to read the foreign lands books, here are the two lists mentioned. (It doesn't work to just search for the lists, at least not for me and Tech Support.)
https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/8...https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/5...The first book on the Passport List,
A Walk in the Woods: Rediscovering America on the Appalachian Trail by
Bill Bryson is one of my very favorite books.

Ah. Got it.

I will. I see you are a moderator now? Well helping people with countries? That's cool.

I took the vehicle one. It will be couple of days though. Maybe only one day. The book I'm reading is pretty short. I was incredibly productive today. I did a ton of cleaning and sold my minivan which required me to unload it--it was full of stuff to put in storage and some to give away.
I managed to separate them really fast to keep up with my friends who were doing the carrying at an insane speed. When I was done I could barely walk. I had to have someone find my cane so I didn't fall over. I hate this freaking leg.
Anyway, I feel great I did so much! And I have more to do tomorrow or Saturday so reading will be a lower priority. I'll do my best. I listen to my audiobooks at 1.4 speed usually.
Gosh, I'll stop rambling now.

You made me curious so I went to check and these are what I have:
The classic
Curious George Rides a BikeA short story called
Never Have I Ever Ridden a Bike.
I am very eager to read
Fish on a Bicycle but it's M/M so a very specific audience.
Same genre is
Hairy Harry's Car Seat which is about getting a car seat for their dog.
Of course
Billionaire Sports Car Came to Life Made Me Gay should be required reading.
But I have almost 15,000 books on my shelves, fewer than Brittany, but still substantial so five books really is not a lot.

Thank you so much Trinia for reading a born in Mexico book!

I am almost positive I'll reach my cap or come really close. I won't read much next week but I'll get one done and but I have probably five days of reading outside that. If I read a book a day, which was usual for me, I can do it. A three of those have to be for other challenges but I can do probably two we need especially if they're short.
It's funny but it takes almost as much to find a needed book as it does to read it. :)

Yeah, delete the book from GR then add a different version. You might also clear your cache. That rarely works but it actually does sometimes.

I just read my third book in a week with a dragon on the cover. We waited for that so long and it turns out I had them on the back burner all along. :)

I'd offer a reward but that's probably not allowed. I do say I'll read your reviews and say Like to any that I think are good.
To make this reward fair and not really a reward, message me and I'll do it for anyone. I can't promise that I'll Like any but I'll read some of your reviews for sure.
Just to clarify, this is not a real reward because I'll do it for anyone who asks. :)

We still seem stuck on Mexican author. Here is a list of female Mexican writers who write Quality Books (in capitals). I don't usually have the patience for those with my lack of concentration issue right now or I would read one. I can find male writers for you, too, if you like. But these are award winners. I can add books they wrote if you want but I'm in a hurry right now and can't do that. Just let me know.
Laura Esquivel Like Water for Chocolate
Valeria Luiselli: Faces in the Crowd, Lost Children Archive
Cristina Rivera Garza, Pulitzer prize winner
Elena Garro
Ángeles Mastretta
Josefina Vicens
Daniela Tarazona

It would be particularly great if someone could finish Mini 3's "Mexican author" and the letter N because those would open up new countries for us and give us a bunch of fresh new tasks.
The mini 2 tasks give us new ones, too, but fewer at a time.
