35559 I actually finished The New Guy last night. I updated Goodreads ut forgot to put the read date on the sheet. Hope it's still okay.

I'm super impressed by everyone in this challenge, especially the last few days! You guys rock! And thank you to the captain and co-captains and spreadsheet gurus for making the challenge so accessible for all of us! Loved doing this challenge with all of you and hopefully I will end up on the same team as some of you in the future!

I read books from 1 star to 5 stars this challenge and some of my favorite were
Kingston
Fourth Wing
Cannon
Love, Theoretically

35559 I can finish both T or N by tonight for the letters whichever is needed more with The New Guy :)
35559 DQs Day 6: Chapter 32 - end

24. Chapter 32, though! How did you feel about the heart-to-heart on the parapet? Did it fill you with fluttery lovey feelings, or did it fall flat? Are you loving “Vioden” (Xadlet?)??

Love it. Love them. Definitely Xadlet.

25. Xaden has Violet join his special group for the War Games, and we find out about all the secrets that EVERYONE has been keeping from her. Do you think she overreacted to these revelations or is her reaction warranted? How do you feel about Dain’s betrayal? Surprised (hint hint - NO)?
Not surprised this guy is a snake yo. A little golden snake. It was a pretty big revelation and quite a big deal. So I think her reaction is at least somewhat warranted.

26. Anyone crying yet? I know I was losing it through a lot of the last 15% of the book. What are your thoughts on the major losses we see during this battle? Any thoughts on the battle itself (or the enemy themselves)?
I CRIED. I don't often but damn. Just knowing this cute little kid was going to die and just wanted to be with his dragon. My heart.

27. That CLIFF-HANGER of an ending had me stunned! What did you think of the sudden appearance of (view spoiler)? Was it too much, or just enough?
I definitely called this before it happened. Makes me really excited for the next book like yesterday.

28. What are your overall thoughts on this book? Will you read the next one?
I really, really enjoyed it. I know a lot of people weren't a fan of the writing style, but this is right up my alley.
35559 DQs day 2

6. This section starts with two scenes with each of the male love/lust interests. The comparison of them continues very clearly. Do you like Xaden or Dain better or neither?
Always the bad boys... So Xaden.

7. Violet uses alternative methods to survive the fighting challenges. Do you think that counts as cheating or using the resources available? Do you think she is aware that she only has this information because she comes from a privileged background and her sister count sneak in it? Do you think one of the professors should have noticed after 5 rounds?
If people can go around killing each other, people should also be able to get creative with how they perform their tasks. As long as the tasks are performed.

8. The obstacle course is straight out of American Ninja warrior (and other similar TV shows) including ending with the giant ramp. Did you enjoy this section and how Violet figured out working with her height limitations? Have they told us how tall she is? (Though in real life, the shortest person to make it up the wall has only been 5’1” – I just Googled it).
Go girl! I'm like 6 feet and wouldn't have been able to do it so good for her! They keep informing us that she's intelligent so of course she figures out how to climb the wall!

9. Finally, we meet the dragons. Was it all you were hoping for? Did anyone guess the black one when it was first introduced in this section? (Also, I am not taking the fall seriously at the end of my section since we still have 2/3 of the book to go).
Uuuu now she's ending up with the black one isn't she??

Bonus: If you could have a dragon from any book or movie, which one would you want?

100% toothless the cutest thing to ever exist.
35559 DQs Day 1, Chapters 1 - 6

1. As someone who grew up with the Pern books, I love diving back into a world with dragons and dragon riders. And this one has extra bonus Gryphons, apparently!
Do you have any first impressions of the main characters (Violet, Dain, Rhiannon, Xader) and the world building? Do you want to know more?

The first moment we met Xader I just knew. Love the world building. Giving me Hunger Games x Divergent x Eragon.

2. What do you think of Violet’s mother and sister? Any idea about why her mother chose to order her to the Rider Quadrant instead of the Scribe Quadrant?
I'm sorry but this mother is not it. I don't know why she won't let her sister be a scribe. Maybe because then she will find out the fishy things that are going on?

3. The brutality of the selection process and the casual acceptance of murder is something else. What do you think the purpose of it is? (If there is one beyond societal norms.)
Would you have given your boot to a stranger?

Survival of the fittest? Idk. Maybe they want their soldiers to be brutal and able to kill whoever they are told to kill?

4. So this is a world at war, but at the battle briefings at least, they don’t seem to know why the outer provinces are currently attacking the borders. Any ideas about why this is happening?
Fishy things are happening within their own ranks. Maybe we'll have another Divergent-situation.

5. Do you think that Violet will survive and get chosen by a dragon? If so, any predictions on what kind?
Of course! She is the main character after all. I thought maybe she would have been chosen by a green dragon who are the most intelligent ones, because she's a little smartie.

35559 Hi!

The new chipmunk task with the (tin) hat, does it have to be a tin hat or is just a hat ok? My latest read Only When It's Us has a hat on the cover, but it's not tin.

35559 I was planning on reading the June backroom BOM. Could you please add it to the BOM tab on the spreadsheet? :)

35559 For Chipmunk task 21 (character working in STEM) I'm planning on reading Love, Theoretically soon but it isn't out until June 13th :( but the bookstores in Norway have a habit of putting the books in their shop before they're out so maybe I'll get my hands on it sooner.

But if anyone reads another one quicker feel free to grab the task!

35559 I have a question about BOM. As you have discussed earlier it looks like Fourth Wing will be a July BOM. I am currently reading the book (started reading it a couple of days before the voting began, of course).

Can I still participate in the BOM discussion? As I understand the rules I can participate as long as I finished the book after TTX started, aka May 1st?

Have I understood that correctly?

Btw, for anyone considering reading the book and are able to get your hands on it I highly recommend it so far. I think I'm at 75% or so.

35559 Thanks for the birthday wishes everybody! I had a great and relaxing day before my parents went home.

Today we had great weather so I read most of the Backroom BOM outside and answered the DQs. The book is so bad you guys! But it's short and awards a lot of points so hopefully I'll finish the last 25% tomorrow.

Can't way to start the chipmunks tomorrow as well!

35559 Yay go team!

We had a long weekend with visits from home and also celebrating my birthday which is today (still waaaaay under 30 ;). Parents are going home tonight and finally I'll be able to pick up the backroom BOM. I'm also planning on joining The City of Brass which has been sitting in my bookshelves for years.

And good luck on your appointment Shannon. Being in pain sucks so I hope they'll be able to help you with it.

Amazing! I think Oxford is next on my bucket list now. I've always wanted to go there but even more after reading A Discovery of Witches! Crossing my fingers that the tour is what you hope for!

35559 If anybody has Iron Widow (Iron Widow, #1) by Xiran Jay Zhao on their TBR the author is Xiran Jay Zhao which starts with an X! It was the only one I found on my shelves for this one.

35559 Just got back from Edinburgh!

The Outlander tour was so good. We went to Lallybroch (Jamie's home), Castle Leoch (The MacKenzie's home), Fort William, Wentworth Prison and Cranesmuir village (where Geillis Duncan lives). The castles and palaces were amazing! Our tour guide was apparently an extra/stuntman on the show and he knew so many cool things about the show and the filming of it. I took some lovely pictures, maybe I'll eventually get to posting them on Instagram.

Looking forward to the new chipmunk challenge! Maybe I'll actually get some reading done as well. Is it just me does always May fly by so quickly?

Btw, I'm also soooo close to finishing a 500-599 book so yay :)

35559 Hi gang! Love to see all the reading and traveling and graduating going on! The BOM I'm participating in is starting today but I probably won't be able to start it for a while as I'm also traveling. But I will get to it eventually! I'm first going to England this weekend, and then next week I'll be going to Edinburgh. I won't have access to a computer and the app is so bad that I won't be using that either.. Have a great reading week!

And I'm totally going on an Outlander tour while in Scotland!

I can see in the log that your moonstone reason is possible to find sometime on May 3rd :)

35559 I think maybe there has been some moving around of the reasons in the winners towers? I also see that there has been a lot work done to the spread sheet since yesterday so I guess some things moved? At least none of the reasons behind my books are the reasons I put in :) But I don't want to delete the text that's there because I remember they belong to other books on the page.

So I'll just leave it be for now and then I'll put in my old reasons later?
