Uh yes. Just take a vacation, Jordan! :-D

I wish I had useful advice. I've heard power naps and cat naps are the solution, but I've never been able to sleep in the day time unless I'm medicated or don't mind waking up grumpy and confused.

34844 1 - The youngest of the kidlings asking me very solemnly if he could rent my old house. (He does not have a job and cannot drive yet but still he is my ideal tenant,) :-D

2 - Super soft T-shirts

3 - My new Three Things a Day rule. I've accepted that I can't take a day to clean out my office--or at least, I can't wait for a day/week when I have time to clean out my office--so I have made it a rule to put three things away every single day, and guess what? I can see the floor again! :-D

4 - A stack of old Victoria magazines I came across while clearing out my former abode for my new tenant. What a great magazine that was in the beginning.

5 - Journaling

It sounds like something I would not be able to put out of my mind--and right now I am seeking easily forgettable stuff.

Except when it comes to research. ;-)

And then viewing the power dynamics in Mainly by Moonlight, this is a case where the reader knows who has the real power, but John doesn't. John believes he has all the real power--and in one sense, he's correct. :-D

Brenda, I always find your comments and insights so interesting on this aspect.

From my perspective, they are more equally balanced in power than maybe either one realizes--and the inability to see it, keeps them from being truly balanced in power.

If that makes sense.

Do you have power if you don't realize you have power?

34844 1 - Experimenting with cocktails.

(I mean the mixing of them, not the drinking of them, although...)

2 - Green juice

(I'm making and drinking a lot of green juice right now and I feel so virtuous!)

3 - The mostly unexplored hoard of vintage paperbacks I've collected over the past year and a half. I didn't even remember I had these set aside for gloating over at a later date. ;-)

It's not looking good, unfortunately.

Obviously, if readers stop buying from them, there is no chance in hell of pulling out of their tailspin--but then again, if authors and contractors are not being paid (which does seem to be the case) is it right to continue to support the publisher?

I'd probably take it on a case by case basis. If the author is asking that people not continue to buy their books through DSP, I'd honor that request.

34844 Jordan wrote: "My next question is something I've been pondering. Why, if John isn't supposed to know about magic, did they have two wedding ceremonies, where one of them was very "odd" for someone who isn't Wicc..."

I think part of why so much slips under John's radar is that he agreed to many, many things while under the love spell. Like a "French" wedding (I just hope everyone finds the French joke as funny as I do) and then so much is happening, it's too late to really question or rework their plans.

And he does realize by the end that Cosmo is very much "into" Wiccan stuff (as he would think of it) which would be uncomfortable for him, but by that point what ISN'T uncomfortable. :-D

It's a good point though. If Cosmo had told John about being a witch (or wiccan) while John was under the love spell, John probably would have accepted it because at that point anything Cosmo did was fine. But once he's no longer under the love spell, his normal attitudes and biases are reasserting themselves fast.

Yes, that was a careless lie--but then the John under the love spell believed everything he was told, and Cosmo is forgetting this new awake John believes almost nothing.
