With all the actual problems in the world, you'd think people would be busy with something besides punishing people for daring to encourage children to explore different ideas and experiences.

It's horrifying, yes. I don't see how this ends in anything but disastrous pain and suffering for all.
But I completely agree. Attacking civilians on either side is NOT okay. No matter how much you desire revenge. Retaliating by harming innocent people is never the right answer.

I had it all figured out, but I couldn't get the Rumor thread to cooperate. It's very weird.

The pool is quite a lifesaver, to be honest, as far as flushing toilets and washing dishes and so forth. It's not ideal, but I hate to think what last week would have been like without it. And, it's looking like it will be the same situation this coming week. So I'm trying to stay focused on our good luck in having the pool rather than our bad luck in having deteriorating pipes.

Jordan wrote: "Here's a Time article about the book banning boom going on: https://time.com/6117685/book-bans-sc..."Jordan, I stumbled across this earlier post while I was trying to figure out why two of the discussion threads still show so many unread posts.
I keep thinking this book-banning mania just started up again this year. This is a timely reminder this kind of thinking (or rather non-thinking) is always happening. It's just, bafflingly, starting to pick up more steam again.

Yes. I have a bad habit of falling asleep and waking up five chapters later--just in time to hear a major spoiler.

I found myself slipping into the obsessively-news-watching state again last week. Between the slab leak in the kitchen and the slab leak in the universe, it's a lot to deal with.

It's been such a long time since I was last in DC! But what a cool town. I'd love to go back one day.

Tough topics, and honestly, I wasn't sure it would be possible to turn that all into comedy, but it's probably his best comedy special yet.
After this year's GRL, I don't plan on doing any more conferences. With ONE exception:
