Book: Wanderlust by Ann Aguirre
Read: 11. Mar. 2017.
Rating: 3 stars
Spot: Futuristic
How it fits: shelved 27 times as 'futuristic'
Wanderlust continues where Grimspace stopped, but in very different tone. In the end I am left with the feeling that this book was a little lost.
+ World building has settled down and is no more overwhelming.
+- Not sure what is happening with romance.
- We visit old planets, but there are no fascinating new landscapes or species that caught my attention.
- Jax is less kick-ass and more fragile.
- Some of my favorite quirky side characters are not there, or have less focus.
I'm not sure if Wanderlust is calm before a storm or a new direction for this series. I guess I will have to read the next book to find out. (But I am not giving up on Sirantha just yet.)

Jennifer, I hear great things about Kristen Ashley, but I never read anything by her.
Hope you both enjoy your picks! :)
Sorry for being quiet. My kid got a stomach flu and then I got it too and ... well I better spare you the descriptions. :/
At least I has a lot of time to read so I now only need to write reviews.

Book: Gunmetal Magic by Ilona Andrews
Read: 06. Mar. 2017.
Rating: 4 stars
Spot: Mythology
How it fits: shelved 59 times as 'mythology'
Kate Daniels is one of my favorite series, but I didn't read Gunmetal Magic because I never liked Andrea very much. But... I was yearning for a new book by Ilona Andrews and since I have already read everything else, I picked this one up after all.
Gunmetal Magic was not bad at all. It had all the elements of Kate Daniels books:
+ Complex world building
+ Intriguing mystery
+ Quirky pack dynamics
+ Lovable side characters
+ Rarely used elements from different mythologies (Norse, Egyptian, ...)
+ A lot of weird paranormal creatures
+ Nail-bitting action scenes
+ Roman was one of main characters. I loved him in the last book and he was awesome here too. I hope rumors that he is getting his own series are true!
The one thing that was missing was Kate as main character. her snarky narration adds that special element to this series that upgrades it from 4 to 5 stars...
Gunmetal Magic pleasantly surprised me. Don't be afraid to give it a go. Just make sure to read novella Magic Gifts before, because some events from this novella are referenced in this book.

#18 on Snarky heroines list (shelved 2 times as snarky-heroine).

Did you pick a book for futuristic shelf Monica?

Sorry for being late, but we moved, so now there should be no hold up. I am starting book for futuristic shelf today.

And for mythology I am switching my book to

So the moving day has finally arrived. I was busy all week cleaning, packing etc. At night I was too tired to get into 'Gospel of Loki'. I read one page and fall asleep. :)
I will have to pick some lighter book for mythology shelf and futuristic.

Thanks in advance!

SHELF #5 ~ VAMPIRES
✔ Linda: Glass Houses read on 23-Feb ~ review
✔ Jennifer: Undead and Unwary read on 22-Feb ~ review
✔ Dragana: Storm Front read on 16-Feb ~ review
✔ Monica: Untamed read on 22-Feb ~ review

Book: Storm Front by Jim Butcher
Read: 16. Feb. 2017.
Rating: 4 stars
Spot: Vampires
How it fits: shelved 343 times as 'vampires'
I read Storm Front 4 years ago and it didn't leave big impression on me. But since it very popular, I decided to give it another chance.
I liked it better the second time around. Maybe I matured? (I did notice that usual romance plot started to bore me).
Harry still reminded me of shabbier version of Humphrey Bogart (or at least the detective role he played in movies). There is trench-coat and damsel in distress. But I didn't mind it so much this time.
And Bob and the rest of paranormal secondary characters were as amusing as ever.
I will continue with this series and see how it goes.
