3218 Faith Precedes The Miracle by Spencer W. Kimball

This book has been on my list for a long time, but I didn't read it when it was our theme read. As was the case with Wendy, President Kimball was the prophet when I was a kid, so anything by him is deeply meaningful.
3218 I've also read "A Distant Prayer" and enjoyed it a great deal. Thanks for sharing, Cindy!

A Distant Prayer by Joseph Banks
3218 Your Happily Ever After by Dieter F. Uchtdorf

I've always been partial to President Uchtdorf. My oldest brother went to the (West) Germany Frankfurt Mission, and I studied German in high school, so I feel a special affinity for him. Thanks for sharing, Lu!

3218 Mark explained above how to win his books; as for the book Tina referred to, you can click on the link for the book and page down to the "Enter to win" tab below the area where your review would go.

3218 The winner has been chosen and I sent notification this morning. Thanks to all of you for your entries.

While I have your attention, the purpose of my asking Jennifer to help was that our group has been very dormant for a long time, and I would love feedback (either on this thread or in a message to me directly, whichever you prefer) as to what can or should be done to improve our group.

Thanks again to Jennifer, and thanks to all who entered.

3218 I just found a different giveaway - not related to our group, but one that might interest our members - on Goodreads at this link:

http://www.goodreads.com/giveaway/ent...

The book (for those who haven't clicked the link yet) is for a book called "Prepare Now For the Temple: An Essential Guide for Young Adult Sisters" by Brittany Mangus.

3218 To clarify, "The False Prince" is the first book, and "The Runaway King" is the forthcoming 2nd book (to be released on March 31st, I believe). The winner will be able to choose which one they want.

3218 Hi, Group,

It is my privilege to have gone to high school with a distinguished author, Jennifer A. Nielsen, who happens to be LDS. She has agreed to allow me to offer a giveaway of her forthcoming book, "The Runaway King" (which is the 2nd installation in The Ascendancy Trilogy). The winner will also have the option to select "The False Prince" instead, if they choose to do so.

This is a big deal, because "The False Prince" finished 8th in Goodreads' recent 2012 book awards in the category of Young Adult & Children's Fiction (which is pretty darn impressive, if you ask me!), and I recently reviewed the book and gave it 5 stars (not because I know Jennifer, but because it was a great book).

If you are interested in receiving one of these great books, please reply to this thread and express your interest in one of the titles. That will enter you into the contest to win it.

I am posting the links below so you can read the summaries:

The Runaway King (The Ascendance Trilogy, #2) by Jennifer A. Nielsen The Runaway King and The False Prince (The Ascendance Trilogy, #1) by Jennifer A. Nielsen The False Prince by Jennifer A. Nielsen.

Good luck!

Paul

3218 There isn't a lot of activity with our group anymore. What suggestions do you have to make it better? What topics should be discussed? I am open to suggestions...

3218 At the time of this post, I didn't know how to enter the Giveaways, but Danielle, please let the group know when there is another one (and perhaps provide a link).

3218 You're welcome, Jennie!
3218 I read this book; did anyone else read it? I thought it was pretty darn good. It was one of those books where you kind of know what the ending is going to be, but the author is masterful enough to keep you guessing about other people, and that makes it all a surprise in the end.

If you haven't read it, don't worry that we're nearly 18 months past the time to begin! :)

3218 Besides, it's good for us to all have to listen to (or read) the talks again, as we have all been counseled to do! I joined the group to motivate myself to do so.

3218 No worries, Jeremy! I think if members are on Facebook also that it would be a great additional opportunity for us to discuss the gospel. :)

3218 Thanks, k. I liked that talk, too. I still need to read "To the Rescue."
