Sounds good. I put it on my list. :)

I neglected to notice that Daniel and Francis M. Gibbons have another book:
A Gathering of Eagles: Conversions From the Four Quarters of the Earth
That sounds like it is a related book, Daniel, but please feel free to tell us more about each of these titles, as many of us are interested in conversion stories. :)

Thanks, Daniel! I love your Dad's biographies of the prophets, also.
Here is the book cover of Daniel's book:
Here is the link to the author page for Francis M. Gibbons, for those interested in further exploration:

I reserved it at the library. I'll have to see if I notice, but I've only been a visitor to Idaho with the exception of the 8 weeks I spent at Ricks College in 1991... ;)

That sounds interesting, D.L. I like Church History as a subject, too.
Here is the cover of the book D.L. mentioned for members who are interested:

There have been enough recommendations that I'm pushing it closer to the top of my list. :)

Is that for kids or young adults?

I have a book by him, "Using the Signs of the Times to Strengthen Your Testimony", from the library, but I'm not very far into it, and someone else has a hold (which keeps me from renewing it). I've wanted to get his books for the reasons you mentioned - that they aid in the study of the scriptures. :)

Thanks, Kelley! That sounds like a pretty cool book. I like unusual conversion stories. I have this one somewhere in my storage; I'll need to dig it out:
So How Come a Nice Jewish Boy Became a Mormon? by Norman Rothman
For those interested in Kelley's recommendation, this is the book:

Ironically, I think I had heard about it a while back through the World War 2 Readers group that I'm a part of on GoodReads, because one of the members was aware of the hotel in Oregon that it was based on (if I recall correctly).

I hadn't heard of this book until I opened this old thread, but I've added it to my list.
Anybody else have thoughts about it?

I might have to check it out anyway. And I have a 6-year old daughter that loves it when I read stories to her. :)

I just picked up one recently that is similar to the first book but written by a non-Mormon whose books I've read about political figures called "The Mormonizing of America." I got it for $1 and haven't cracked it open yet, though.

Those experiences are invaluable!

Awesome, Cindy! You'll have to let us know when he gets his call.
I'm going to resolve to use "Preach My Gospel" in Family Home Evening more.

I'll check at the library - I like to listen to books while I drive and can listen at work, too.

I never have started this book, either, but I hope to rectify that soon. Anybody else that read it and wants to comment?

I always enjoy President Eyring's stories about his dad. At the Priesthood Session of the April 2014 General Conference, he talked about his heroes (Joe DiMaggio) and his priesthood heroes, and although he didn't directly mention that his dad was one, it was obvious in the stories about the others that he was. I need to read this book, too...

I'm not even familiar with this book - I'll have to check it out.

Another one I need to read soon....
I love President Monson - what a great example of service, and this book chronicles that!
