3218 Ready Resource for Relief Society and Melchizedek Priesthood: 2018Since the last post, Trina has published another book that is a great Priesthood and Relief Society supplement, and I was lucky enough to get a Kindle copy.

Trina Boice Ready Resource for Relief Society and Melchizedek Priesthood 2018 by Trina Boice Ready Resource for Relief Society and Melchizedek Priesthood: 2018

If you have any teaching callings (I'm in the Sunday School), it can be used effectively with a lot of different lessons. Check it out!

3218 I recently ordered a book on Amazon (because it was about 2 bucks!) called Coming to Zion Coming to Zion by James B. Allen . It's published by BYU Studies and is a collection of various pioneer stories, perfect for July!
3218 I recently was contacted through Ancestry.com about a relative of mine that I didn't know much about. His name is Col. Ephraim Bowen, and he led a raid in Pawtuxent, Rhode Island, that was before the Tea Party in Boston but was similar in its nature.

The person who contacted me is Janet Hudon Hartman, and the book is "Colonel Ephraim Bowen: A Pawtuxent Hero." I ordered a copy, and it's a pretty good book! I love hearing about my ancestors, but it's a special sense of pride to know he was a hero of the American Revolution.

3218 I received this book for Father's Day but haven't had a chance until today to read it:

Russell M. Nelson Father, Surgeon, Apostle by Spencer J. Condie Russell M. Nelson: Father, Surgeon, Apostle

I also have begun (but haven't gotten very far - it's been a busy summer!) The Autobiography of Elder Helvecio Martins by Helvecio Martins The Autobiography of Elder Helvecio Martins. Elder Martins is an emeritus seventy, and I decided to read this after attending the "Be One" 40th anniversary celebration of all worthy male members being eligible for the Priesthood.

3218 Good stuff, Daniel! Thanks for sharing it with the group.

3218 I don't know why, but I never saw this post before. Sorry, Daniel! That link no longer works, but if you downloaded a file, please send it to me; I'd love to listen.

I had a similar experience yesterday. I went to the temple to do some family sealings, and the sealer told us that he was certain that some of the individuals for whom we were doing proxy work were present. The constrast is that when I came home, some family members were watching "Ghost Adventures." They asked for a comparison between what I experienced and what was shown on the TV, and I mentioned that the feeling is entirely different. In the temple, it's all done for love and the benefit of individuals on both sides of the veil. I was able to tell my 10-year-old daughter about some of the special feelings that we experienced in the temple. On the other hand, the TV show provokes spirits - many of whom were not very good people in this life - and there is a lot of bleeping on the audio track. It is a dark and negative feeling that leaves one afraid of the life to come. I'm glad to know that there are better things that can await us if we live righteous lives.

I've always wanted to read Christ and the New Covenant The Messianic Message of the Book of Mormon by Jeffrey R. Holland Christ and the New Covenant: The Messianic Message of the Book of Mormon by Elder Jeffrey R. Holland. What were your thoughts about it, Chris?

3218 I'm not much for poetry, but I did pick up a Kindle copy of Benton's book, and the poems are short (which I like, because I can read one and contemplate it or read several, depending on my mood) and they are very thought-provoking and inspiring. I recommend it highly!

3218 I did join Jeremy's Facebook group in 2012, and he regularly posts good things there that inspire and create opportunities for discussion. I highly recommend it.

3218 I've come to love this one from the 10th chapter of Moroni. It is the third to last verse that Moroni wrote, so it is part of his final counsel to us all:

32 Yea, come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness; and if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness, and love God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you, that by his grace ye may be perfect in Christ; and if by the grace of God ye are perfect in Christ, ye can in nowise deny the power of God.

3218 So I just re-read my post from six years ago, and I am reconsidering my harsh tone from back then. I would like to encourage discussion and help to answer honest questions (and I'm not the authority, so I hope the group will help, as well).

I know this group has largely been inactive for a while now, and I'm probably to blame because of posts like the one above, so please accept my apologies.
3218 Thanks, Cindy! I've not read anything by Sanderson, but I've had enough people recommend his books that I will change that soon!
3218 Thanks, Jennie! You are a great reviewer - very fair and with the unique perspective of a successful author.

3218 Hi, everyone.

My friend, author A.L. Sowards has begun a group called "The Green Jell-O Book Club" that pertains to LDS Fiction (at this link: https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/...)

There are a number of lively discussions going on there, and it's a great place to interact with a number of authors of LDS Fiction who have joined the group.

Sounds like a good book. I love President Nelson!
