Dave the owner does his vary best to undercut B&N what I suggest is looking for a BOOKSENSE independent bookstore. They get corporate discounts because they buy together. It is different in a small local economy. In a city I can see going to B&N, but here, My Gulliver’s is just fine, and their coffee is better then Starbucks Kahawi Coffee MMMM and I know I didn't spell that right.

Do you have a special bookstore you go to, or is anywhere with books fine? I and the wife are book snobs. We refuse the B&N, Boarders, and any other chain. (I will however buy movies and music from them, because I know for fact that they don’t make any money from them.)

We have this little Book Nazi Click, At Gulliver’s books in Fairbanks. We all sit around the tables in the “second story café’” (the used book section of Gulliver’s, [ironically it is on the second floor, Dave is a crafty old bastard])

Tanya: She is a crazy conspiracy theory. (Not a 9/11 nut) Anything from UFO’s Government assignations, anything she is knee deep in it. *** The women has never thrown away foil in her life. Her reading room at home is covered in washed used strips of foil. She doesn’t want anyone spying/reading her thoughts when she is reading. Out side of her idiosyncrasies she is perfectly normal. Just don’t get her started.

O’L Dave: Dave owns the books store: I think he spends more time with us talking about books then watching his employees. Dave is a 69 year old geezer with a great sense of humor. The guy smokes more cigarettes then I do, and will fight to the death anyone that suggests he should quite. His only dream in life is to die surrounded by books.

Jill: Nobody really likes Jill but she injects her thoughts on whatever is being discussed anyway. Nobody really has the heart to tell her to pound sand. Even mean old Dave. He just rolls his eyes whenever she starts talking.

Anyway I could go on for a wail but there are 4 others and I just don’t have the time.

I guess my point is, I like this group because it reminds me of being home with my wife and her self proclaimed book Nazi’s.

I think it says a lot that this is... one reporter here, one a few years ago... See the point?

A lot of people do not check the sources though. I know of many people that simply state whatever so and so says as truth. Most of the time it is not fact but someone’s opinion styled as fact.

I really just think it is a shame. When a free people can not trust the outlets to supply them with accurate information.

Paul: The problem is "who" is putting that information on Wiki or any other info hub. How can you verify it? One person/organization can start hundreds of websites supporting the same garbage. Referencing each other. One thing to learn from history, a lie repeated often enough becomes true. With so many people not checking and just assuming it is true, and repeated it becomes fact. So I say again

I think the biggest problem is that the news has turned into a profit business, instead of an information hub... I think there is something wrong with a "news" outlet earning mass profits... But I am sure there is a lot of argument about that. The thought just occurred to me. So it is not completely thought out.

I just think they are more concerned with dividing the country for profit then they are about telling truths. If we are divided we tune in to hear what “that leftie ass, said about this” or “that winger did WHAT!” And that is what our media has turned into. The fucking WWF.

It is a shame.

I don't think there are any real journalists any more. All they do is opinnion pieces. Umm I don't want to hear your opinnion on something mr. reporter. I want facts and I will decided my opinion.

I also am a follower of Orwell. Someone argued against me by saying information is too assessable to be manipulated... Umm, just the opposite actually, it is so accessible, so loose, that anyone can put anything up, anywhere.

It is not hard to alter internet sources, How does one know what is verified is truly verified? And the media can not be trusted on anything period.
