Ok I have many issues with this “article”. I do believe an attack of this type would be extremely damaging to the US; I do not believe it would be to the extent Graham is spouting. Once I’m home I plan on posting this on a physics blog that I go to a lot and find out particulars such as: What yield would this device have to be in order to gain these results. At what altitude would the detonation have to be at? Then examine weather or not Iran has the capability or the prospect to reach the requirements needed in an attack of this nature.

I also have a problem with his assessment of the outcome of an attack like this. I do agree it would be extremely damaging, But I don’t believe the US would cease to exist from a single nuclear detonation. I think they are ignoring some simple facts about EMP waves, mainly if an electronic device is not on it will not be affected. A lot of our systems are built on redundancies; there is also a lot of legacy equipment that is off line that could be turned back on in an event like this; we would be operating at a reduced capacity, but out of the fight hardly. Yes we would feel it, yes the waste of this action would be massive, but a dooms day… hardly.

What say you?

P.S. Lets try to keep party lines outside; this is to explore possible outcomes of a hypothetical situation.

3113 Ok So lets recap:

1) This is very rare.
2) Back up your shit no matter what.
3) Pimple faced tech geeks need to grow a pair of balls, get in there and fix/recover Charissa’s Mac.
4) Everybody go out and buy an external hard drive. Stroke it like a teenage boy, repeat. three to four times daily.

3113 I do not mind being corrected Donna. I really want to post from the original source though to see what you do to it.

3113 You know, I'm not even sure Macs have start up disks... Do they? I have never used one. It's only 1 year old! That defiantly should not have happened; I would raise high hell and make them give you a new one. And recover whatever they can off the HD.

Oh I’m sorry I was wrong, His plan is to increase the tax by 15.65 percent, add that onto the current 39.6 and you get what? 56% So I apologize, I tried to lead you astray. Ops I also forgot about lifting the Social Security cap. Slap a few more points on there. And then there are his plans to increase taxes on retirement investment plans… because in case you didn’t know that is income, even though you can’t touch it without paying out huge penalties.

I am finding discrepancies between what I was able to find today and what I have found previously. More in a day or two.

cyril, could agree with you more.

3113 I am going home tomorrow Lori, When I get there I will post all the sources of my statements.

3113 I don't think mentioning the %60 tax is hyperbole, a party line or any such nonsense. Those are his intentions. What makes it a party line is Obama hiding it behind words as if he is going to do everyone a favor; and stick it to those dirty rich republicans. You may be fine with it but I am not. To me that is a repressive tax. Additionally part of that tax hike is aimed at pension plans.

I am amazed that so many are so willing to jump on that boat. Many of these same people claim to be un-able to afford this that or the other, so by all means hand it over to the government and let them wisely spend it. I’m sorry I’m laughing so hard my sides hurt.

Jul 30, 2008 03:53PM

3113 Oh and I didn't say anti tax I am anti 60% tax.
Jul 30, 2008 03:52PM

3113 You are mixing up puddles Xy. If the government can't afford shit today, then that means they are doing too much of the wrong thing. But you’re right; we can cross Iraq off the list and add in a whole slue of social programs instead. Please.

Taxes are not party lines, taxes affect each of us… well those with jobs anyway.

Then to go back to what NB said earlier to send millions more a year to a broken organization like the U.N. Are you seriously trying to give me a heart attack!

Jul 30, 2008 03:48PM

3113 Ok, so McCain is senile... he is not trying to legislate my income away either.
Jul 30, 2008 03:42PM

3113 This thread went belly up. I am hearing a lot of party lines folks. Not good. Highlighting Obama's tax plan is not picking on the guy. It is picking on his plans for this country. It is more pressing to me then a simple agreement. I can not afford to let the guy win the big seat. And if you crunch the numbers and actually look at what he wants to do I am sure you will find you can’t afford it either.

3113 I am in complete shock. I have never had a single problem with any of my Mac's...

What did you do Charissa? Is this an attempt to side step your quota? Was soda involved? Did you cram peanut butter in the disk drive?

Jul 30, 2008 08:58AM

3113 Ok so he/she is an author... I don't think I have ever herd the name before. My wife would probably scream if I said that too her.

3113 You jest sir!

Really though you don't need to grasp the mathematics of it to understand the principle. It's all about delivery ;)
