DHASG March Challenge
Introduction: The third month of 2014 is here already! Hard to believe! March has some distinctive features that we'll celebrate in this monthly challenge. Hope you participate!
Instructions:
1. Each participant can can sign up at any time from the opening of thread and post their final stats when finished.
2. Books must be read between March 1st and March 31st, 2014
3. One book counts for one part of the challenge.
4. Books can be of any genre unless specifically stated.
Levels:
1. Roaring like a Lion!: Read 10-12 books
2. Pot of Gold: Read 5-9 books
3. Frolicking like a lamb: Read 4 books
1.Parlez-vous français?: March 20 is International Francophone Day, which celebrates French language and culture. Read a book that does the same in any small or large way.
2.As Young as You Feel: March 22nd is the day where youth is eternal. Read a book with an older than typical lead character or a young adult/middle grade/juvenile book.
3.National Reading Day: March 2nd is National Reading Day. Read a book that celebrates books and reading in some way. Let us know what you choose in parentheses.
4.Don't Worry, Be Happy!: March 20th is International Day of Happiness. Read a book that makes you happy!
5. International Woman's Day!: To celebrate womanhood, pick a book with a standout heroine, a woman you could see as your friend, or who is in some way a role model to you.
6. 3.14: Pi Day is March 14, and it celebrates the mathematical constant π (pi), or 3.14. Read a book with a scientist, mathematician, or someone who appreciates the sciences and math. You could also read a book with someone who bakes (pies, etc) or even loves eating baked goods. If you can come up with another way to use, go for it, but let us know what you choose in parentheses.
7. Pisces: The Fish: Pisces is one of the birth signs for March. Pisces are known for the following traits: imaginative, kind, compassionate, intuitive, sensitive, selfless, escapist, idealistic, weak-willed, over-sensitive, lazy about things they don't care about, and pessimistic. Read a book that has a character with any of these traits, or you can read a book that brings to mind the fish symbol of Pisces.
8. Cabin Fever Month: March is the month of Cabin Fever. Read a book with main character(s) who are stranded together, for whatever reason.
9. Erin Go Bragh!: Not only is March 17th St. Patrick's Day, but March is Irish-American Heritage Month. Celebrate Ireland and Irish heritage by reading a book with characters who are Irish (of Irish descent), set in Ireland, or a book that has the colors of green, white and orange on the cover (a combination of at least two of these).
10. No Homework Day/Spring Break!: We all need a break, so you get any book you want for this challenge to celebrate both holidays/events for March.
11. Awkward Moments Day: March 18th is for those of us who seem to have plenty of awkward moments in our lives. Read a book with a character who has a very unfortunate awkward moment, although things turn out well in the end.
12. Single Parents Need Love Too!: To celebrate National Single Parent's Day on March 21st, read a book with a single parent character who finds love.
