ha! there's always some new (old) stuff to fall over whilst raking about, and delighted i did with this album, originally released in 1982 on ariwa, by 7 piece all-female roots outfit i'd never heard of - engineered by the mad professor, mixed by michael (not dread) campbell, deep, deep roots, quite amazing and this is practically all they did under this name - mwanamke mwafrika (african woman). re-released this year on vinyl/download, but a quick check proved that corn-fed have it on their catalogue, so next time i'm putting an order in, it's a must. the fact that the c.f. release is just the 8 track album and no extras confirms that there's none to be had (or too rare to find). blandcamp have the re-issues here (so i'm listening on that facility),

already my choice for best xmas telly,

'gone fishing, gone christmas' with bob mortimer and paul whitehouse, is funny (given who's involved), surprising, bizarre, upful, and very touching. two pals on a socially distant xmas fishing jaunt in middlesborough (bob's home town) and the surrounding areas.........without spoiling owt, check the state of chris rea (who's also very funny), not wearing well! for me, this is gentle comedy.
