This is the discussion thread for this story in the buddy reads.

This is the discussion thread for this story in the buddy reads.

I have tried to organize the buddy reads folders to make them easier to navigate. If the buddy read is ongoing, it will be in the "Current" folder and if it is finished, then the discussion threads will be moved to the "Completed" folder. Hope that helps.

Oh yes indeed Jada. ..."Have you tried any Wilkie Collins? I really enjoyed
The Woman in White. It's a lengthy book, but it is a fun read.

Hello and welcome to the group Karen! I hope that you enjoy it!

If they just go under the Groups heading at the top of the page, they can type in the name of the group and we should come up under that. They can also find it under your profile, if they are friends and just look under the groups that you belong to. Plus, if you look at the menu at the top of the club, there should be a heading that says "invite people", this will allow you to invite people of your choosing.

It depends upon the people in the discussion. Sometimes a lull occurs when people are reading and not wanting to give out spoilers, but by now I think that those who are reading it are close to being done. I was curious about people's view on the feminist qualities of this novel. Do you see it as an early feminist novel?
Jada wrote: "Anyone else find it interesting that in Dumas's books women in France had many more rights than in other countries? I wonder why. I guess the French are just more open-minded."I wondered about that as well.

Please don't think that you are going to step on toes! That is the fun of buddy reads, anyone can get it going. I think that the group is set up so that anyone can start a thread, but if it does not work, please let me know and I will change it. This one sounds like fun, I read The Masque of the Red Death when I was in Jr. High, it was one of the creepier books that I had read at that time.

Wow! Who was the reader on the disc that you liked?

I started a thread for the buddy read, but I'm not quite sure what stories people wanted to start.

Will add those to the list when we get ready to nominate! Thanks! We have Middlemarch coming in July, so maybe August.

Hello and welcome to Stacey Jo and Jada! Hope that you enjoy the group and find some wonderful new reads.
Stacey Jo- Loved the comment about being a maid. Since I'm somewhat in the middle of "spring" cleaning, I understand!
Jada-How about Jane Austen? Have you read any of her works?

Considering the name and concept of this group, I'm loathe to admit that I have not read this book again. I had to read it 3x's during the span of jr high and high school and I can't bring myself quite yet to read it again.

This book came up as a recommendation after reading
The Great Gatsby. Does anyone see similarities between the two? I'm rather nervous since I really did not enjoy Gatsby when I read it.

I'm glad that you are doing better! Nice to have you back!
I have to agree with Kerri, when I was younger I thought Eeyore was funny. Now as an adult, it is an interesting take too see him change in my eyes. Does anyone else put their friends or people they know into the characters that they read? I do that all the time. Ha!

I started this thread so that Poe's stories could be discussed over a certain time period if people wanted to. I have seen the ads for The Raven, which looks intriguing so I hope that a good discussion gets going!

This will be the initial discussion thread for the book until I can get a better handle on the book's parts! Feel free to start the discussion, just be mindful of spoilers!

Nice! So how about June-August? We can be squishy about the end date since it is a long book. I'll set up a thread to start. Thanks all!
