Kerri and I have discussed this and we were wondering if anyone had suggestions for making the group more active and vibrant? Both of us have young families and sometimes it gets very busy in our homes and I don't like that the group suffers so maybe adding some new moderators might help? We are open to ideas so give us some feedback on how to make this group better. Thanks!
Trollope has a great way of making characters seem real to the reader. Ralph is wise, but the way that he blames Paul always bugged me. I would have to agree with you about Felix, he has nothing to redeem him. Lady Carbury drives me crazy at time, but I can imagine that every mother that was in financial difficulties at that time, looked at her children as possible gold mines. If they married well, it would seem to get rather ruthless at times.
I do know that Amazon instant video has Part II, has the third part been released yet? I'm not much of a movie follower.
I just had to post this since we read this one and it keeps popping up in the news.http://washingtonexaminer.com/sales-o...

I like her as well. It is nice to see her growing as a person. I shudder to think of her with Felix, perhaps, that won't go as planned. This morning I just met Winifred Hurtle and she seems like a spitfire. Can't wait to read more about her! I really like that this book moves along. I have yet to become dragged down with it. Usually, books this length tend to bog down somewhere in the middle.
I will try to be inspiring! How does the "share" system work with the railroad? I'm thinking that it is similar to a Ponzi scheme, but I'm not sure. What does Melmotte do? What character do you sympathize the most with? I can't help but feel sorry for Henrietta and Rodger Carlson. On a side note, Casceil, I have wanted to read 1Q84 for quite awhile. How is it?

I have to ask, do you remember the beginning of the book? :)
I have to apologize for the lack of anything on my part during the last week, my son has been really ill. I'm hoping that after yesterday, things may be on the mend!
I have to say that some of these characters make me want to slap my palm to my head at times. It is hard to read about people making dumb mistakes
I just started this one last night and got hooked right away. I like the way that the author used three letters to introduce Lady Carbury. I also found it interesting when introducing the two younger Carbury's, the subject of nature vs nurture was brought up. It is an interesting read so far. By the way, what is the correct pronunciation of Trollope? I keep thinking that he was lucky to be a man with the way I say it!
This is the group read for May and June. I hope that you enjoy it and remember to note spoilers. Happy reading!
I must say that I just started reading about Thenardier family and they are just loathsome. I know that I'm not very far into the book, but Hugo really gives them no redeeming qualities.
I'm not sure which is better, though generally if you get the unabridged version of books, they tend to be complete. Welcome to the reading! I'm trying to finish this one during the course of this year, however, it seems that I keep putting it off over some other book.
I have to say that I'm not very far into the book, but after reading the spoilers above, I would have to agree with those comments. I'm pretty sure that it would be ok with everyone to start openly talking about the book. It is the 19th so please feel free to discuss the book in more depth. I'm not far, but I will not pitch a fit, I promise! I have to amend my previous comment and say that the farther I get in the book, I find it easier to get into it.
