222868 Kristi... Maud (and Helen) are so bad ass, I loved that chapter. At first I was a little taken aback with the last "kill", but then I thought about her background and said to myself that she is just what House Krahr is all about. Whew, I can't wait to see what happens next. Did you read the Hugh chapters?

222868 Happy Birthday Karen!! 50 is a great age, it's the new 30, or so I told myself when I turned 50. I hope that you had a great day.

melindeeloo... Sometimes a smexy book scene seems to go on forever on audio. You can't skim ahead like you can with a book or kindle. It is a shame how far some authors have fallen. I absolutely loved the IAD books from the beginning, I have, but haven't listened to Wicked Abyss. Sadly, somewhere in the last few books, I found it no longer a priority.
What was stressful about the college trip? Too many places or was your oldest undecided?

Golden Dynasty was her best of the series. I didn't care that it was GoT like, I knew that it was supposed to be.

222868 HappyBookWorm... T.S.Joyce writes quick and entertaining little books. I agree with your statement about the KU program. I have read all of her books and they have provided me with lots of hours of entertainment. They are my favorite KU find. I've been reading them since late 2015 or early 2016. WARNING they are good for lots of sleepless late night reading, LOL!! :-}

Demetra... I loved the Hugh chapters too, I'm so looking forward to more.

Liz... I listened to Hot and Badgered Hot and Badgered (The Honey Badgers, #1) by Shelly Laurenston I thought that it was a good intro into the honey badger clan. I found it entertaining and I had a lot of laugh out moments. I feel that is was well worth the read.

I am still plowing my way through the Virgin River books. I'm not generally a contemporary romance reader, but I think that they click for me because there is always a sub plot, (generally a secondary romance), and a main cast of characters who appear in every novel. Many of the characters are somehow related or good friends of a previous couple. They have an idealistic small town vibe. I'm reading Moonlight Road Moonlight Road (Virgin River, #10) by Robyn Carr

222868 HappyBookWorm... You can read the Harper's Mountain books, but I can't help but feel that the whole picture will be lost on you.
At the very least, Grayback and Boarlander Bears will give you the info you need. The families are established and some of the bad guy info is in these. Some of those couples are parents of the MC's of the Harper's Mountain books.

So I finished a book recommended for me for the March challenge on the Girls, Guns, & Grimoire's discussion. One Tequila One Tequila (Althea Rose Mystery, #1) by Tricia O'Malley Was an OK, not spectacular, but an easy read. It has one of my most disliked tropes, 2 potential love interests for the main character, Althea Rose, who is a psychic. There is nothing more than kissing, so there isn't a multiple sexual partners thing going on. The characters, while likeable, aren't very well fleshed out, even "Thea" herself. There is a lot of "she needs to do something so she concentrates really hard and it just falls into place" type of action. It turns an interesting idea into a juvenile book, IMHO.

There are a few books that I have abandoned for new shiny books, so I might get back to one of those.

Storm of Desire Storm of Desire (Legends of the Storm, #2) by Bec McMaster

King of Prey King of Prey (King of Prey, #1) by Mandy M. Roth

The Nightmare King The Nightmare King (The Kings, #11) by Heather Killough-Walden

Spellbinder Spellbinder (Moonshadow, #2) by Thea Harrison

It's kindle roulette. Is anything coming out this week?

Happy Easter

HappyBookWorm... Are you interested in reading the T.S.Joyce books? They are about different groups and many of the latest ones overlap by location, characters, and families.

222868 Have you noticed that most of the audio books don't transfer to Goodreads? Another thing that I don't like is that I have to look through 20 different versions of a book, (including the foreign language ones), before I find the audio edition. It should be e-book, paperback, hardback, or audio, then all of the other editions.

222868 Me too!! I was thinking of putting them all at the bottom too, but I also have a shelf of 2018 Books Read. I tend to be redundant if I don't check myself.

222868 Liz.. You don't have to read the campus book, Big Vamp on Campus Big Vamp on Campus (Half-Moon Hollow, #5.5) by Molly Harper

Or the next book, Where the Wild Things Bite Where the Wild Things Bite (Half-Moon Hollow, #5) by Molly Harper to read Accidental Sire Accidental Sire (Half-Moon Hollow, #6) by Molly Harper
Also, I think that you will recognize almost all of the characters, because many of the original group that hangs around with Jane and Gabriel are cameos in this book.

Liz... Now you understand that the Kane's mountain books are after all of the events in the Harper's Mountains books. You have the dessert before the dinner so to speak.

HBW... I love your quote "You can have too much pepper in a pot". That's a good one. ;-)
That is a very interesting strategy for James's prequel. I wonder if the deal works with audio, because sometimes there is no pre-order for those.

Vinity... That's a real tragedy for the Romance Unlimited authors. 7 years is a long time. I hope that there will be a more fair and equitable settlement for them.
I like to listen to the Half Moon Hollow books, they are so absurd and light that I really enjoy the break they give me from more powerful reading that usually comes with Urban Fantasy. Don't worry, I listen to all of the Harper books, and sometimes I have to go "who is that?" in these books. There are a lot of characters. I think that Ophelia's little sister, Georgie, is a riot and a diabolical little monster stuffed into a tiny child's body, I love her character.

I have been on such a great run of books that I am happy with, that I hope that I won't be let down by an OK but perfectly good read.

222868 I read the first couple of the "reboot" books and I liked those. I don't really know why I stopped reading them but I just kind of lost interest after a while. Sadly, her series was one of the few that I have read from the very beginning.

I finished Hot and Badgered Hot and Badgered (The Honey Badgers, #1) by Shelly Laurenston and I listened to it on audio. This was a great book to listen to. The voices were funny and, at all of the right times, manic. Stevie's paranoia was portrayed so well. Berg was so laid back and calm. I had a lot of fun.

Now I am listening to another Virgin River book, Forbidden Falls. Forbidden Falls (Virgin River, #8) by Robyn Carr I really am glad that Audible came out with a deal for the "romance " books.

222868 Thanks Lisa, I thought that I read something about that. I did love the Highland books. I would like books about the 9. Perhaps the next book will feature the next "9" H, (or h), and we will get their story.

There is also the Cruz story. ( I listen to these so I have no idea of the spelling).

222868 Liz... Wow that's very generous for you. I think that the stories have really evolved. I liked the last book too! :-)
Mar 27, 2018 06:22PM

222868 I listened to the scenes, and I agree, they were interesting.

So the next book has the Seelie Winter Princess as a possible bad guy, the Leprechaun god, and possibly Jayne. For equal opportunity, are the Unseelie Princesses coming back too? I figure that Mac and Barrons will have a chunk of the next book, just to reunite all of the super powers for the finale.

I happened to like the voltage as a super power, I wonder if Dani will actually get something as cool as that.

I've been thinking about the Unseelie Princes. They aren't ones who were directly created by the Unseelie King, they "evolved" to replace the originals. The song of making passed through Christian because, I believe, that he wasn't true to the mold of the Unseelie Princes. When Cat "read" him she saw that he had encased the evil. I think that he is true to the Druid principles that he was born into. The other guys, Jayne and Sean, had only just begun their transformations so they were't wholly evil either.

Moning once stated that there would be 3 books in the so called Dani books. Do you think that the next book is the last?

222868 I finished High Voltage. High Voltage (Fever, #10) by Karen Marie Moning I thought that it was a much better book than some of the previous "Fever" books. We have returned to Dani's story and boy do things roll right along. I happen to like the Dani stories more than the Mac stories right now. Mac gets too wrapped up in her own head for my taste. I felt that Moning was "on" for this book. While there are many other story plots dangling, you are not disappointed with the events in this installment. Dani has matured, is reconciling herself with all of the emotions that she boxed up for later, and truly able to give of herself. This novel has a couple of great plot twists, so I didn't feel like I am reading the same old trope time and time again. I would give this a 4.5* rating.

Vinity... I hope that you are feeling better. Did you or any of the other Audible people find anything worth the 3 for 2 credits sale?

I got a couple of different series, and a book in a series that I need to catch up on.

The Hunt The Hunt (Devil's Isle, #3) by Chloe Neill
I read the first book and have been meaning to get back to this series.

How Hard Can It Be? How Hard Can It Be? (Handcuffs and Happily Ever Afters, #1) by Robyn Peterman
Peterman is usually good for a laugh or two.

Andrea Vernon and the Corporation for UltraHuman Protection Andrea Vernon and the Corporation for UltraHuman Protection by Alexander C. Kane This is a totally new to me author. I'll try it.

On Audio I am back to the Virgin River series, Forbidden Falls. Forbidden Falls (Virgin River, #8) by Robyn Carr I really hope that the h in this book isn't as bitchy as a couple of the previous h's have been.

On kindle, well it doesn't really matter because I'll be reading Hot and Badgered Hot and Badgered (The Honey Badgers, #1) by Shelly Laurenston when it comes out.
I love some of the reviews, On reviewer stated, (I'm paraphrasing). that regardless of the man's torso on the cover, this is not some LKH sex romp. I love that. Another said, " A+ narrative despite the D- cover." The cover doesn't really bother me, just send me the book!!! :-)
