How's your house and animal relocation projects going?"
Yes, there is one z. Didn't check how many books they had read though.
We are all settled in the new house. My dog is missing friends but goes for lots of walls and my parents are around most days so he is not alone. My cat is still inside but getting interested in checking out things beyond my door. He well get to explore my parents house on the weekend and probably go outside on the last weekend of the month. My python seems oblivious to the whole move!
Now I am back at work dealing with all the chaos related to construction in areas with live animals as well as peak season!

Lu, just a little correction. I am at 29 (same as Barbara), not 27...

Once Upon a Time
Waiting to get new seasons of:
Eureka
Big Bang Theory
Merlin
Grimm
That's the current stuff. Always have LOADS on my to watch list.

I want to finish but have to work... Silly snakes!
I loved the cult who are trying to speed up global warming so the earth can be flooded again. Imagine if Noah's Ark really was a submarine. I have spend many thoughts imagining how the world could be different if we lived underwater!
@ Lauren: This is only my second Mieville book (Un Lun Dun) and I am enjoying it. Really must get into some of his others if they are even better!!

I'm still loving the story. I really enjoy the completely wacky, off-the-wall ideas he comes up with and how they play out in the worlds he creates. I must admit, I haven't noticed many words that I don't know. Maybe I do skim reading more or something to miss them. I don't get the same feeling as you, Barbara, that he is belittling me. If I missed something, I find that I am impressed with him for thinking of it, annoyed with myself for missing it, and grateful that he pointed it out. I want to read more, but things have been crazy even though everything is unpacked. I need to just spend some chill time tomorrow before I go back to work on Friday as I only have 4 other days off in December so it is going to be crazy busy.
@Riana: I have to disagree with Barbara one this one. (I nominated that task so may have greater voting power on it too). The animal needed to be an important part of the story, not necessarily an active one. Even though the octopus is dead and we have yet to actually see the creature (by Ch 33 at least), it is crucial to the story. There would not be much to this story without a stolen octopus or an octopus religion, so I say it counts.

I am loving it so far. I work in a museum so that element was a big hit for me, as is the whole zoologist side to the main character. I really enjoy the way he writes and how the story starts so quickly, but doesn't explain everything at once. I relish the confusion as he gradually reveals the information.
Off to read more and catch up with some of todays chapters. Need to spend some time chilling with my pets tomorrow as they still a bit unsettled over the move, which gives me a great excuse to read lots.
