I appears I will have more time to read and watch TV in the coming 6 weeks that to a meniscus tear in my knee. Surgery is next Friday and about a month of recovery before I can get back to training (although I am looking at upper body/core training options for that period to keep my endorphins flowing).

Thanks everyone. I had a wonderful day and am still celebrating...

OK, I booked my tickets for JHB. It is going to be a quick trip! I land on the evening of Thursday 24 Sep (Public Holiday). I am free on Friday and Saturday. I fence on Sunday afternoon and fly home on Monday afternoon. I decided I am going to hire a car as it just makes life easier.

I agree. For a new book of his, ideally I book of a few days so I can just read all the time.

Great! See you in a couple of weeks!

Carolien, I have no idea. I might be able to get info when I am in Cape Town. I think it is normally in the WestRand somewhere.

Lauren, I get there on Thursday 25 June about 10:30. Any chance of a pick up at the airport, lunch together and then dropping me at a train station so I can get to Fish Hoek?

I arrive in Cape Town on Thursday 25 June at 10:30, fence in the Sunday and head back to PE on Monday 6 July so I have quite a bit of time to play with. Let me know what suits you best. I will be staying in Fish Hoek (at least some of the time, might sirens a night or two in Parklands and some other options including Hermanus) but can easily catch a train and or bus somewhere to meet up.

I will be back in Cape Town end of June, beginning of July. We must try connect then...

Ok, so I am finally coming up to Joburg. My fencing competition is Sunday 27 September. Yes, I know that is still far away, but if I want to get a decent price for a flight I might need to grab the special when it happens, so I want to have a good idea of details in advance. I would love to connect with a bunch of you while there so hope to be able to spend a week in the area (Wednesday to Tuesday) which includes the Thursday Public Holiday (unless that one gets canceled too). Who would be keen to connect, provide a bed\couch\space on the floor for me to sleep or drive me from one person to the next and to the competition (I have no idea where it will be yet) or all of the above?

Congrats!!

I have started it but haven't got very far. Haven't found the story griping at all.

17. Read a book by an author whose surname starts with the same letter as yours.
18. Read a book that features a domesticated animal on the cover.

7. Read a book that had been on your To Read list for more than a year.
8. Read a book which features some form of fighting as an important element of the story.

I'm here

I admit I am not reading as much at the moment (spending time working on my fitness) but there were tasks that I knew would be a serious challenge to me so I agree with the easier option for next year.

Thanks. Next trip is more about holiday so I will definitely have more flexibility and time!

I do eat meat (although I have debates with people about this often) but I avoid cow meat when possible. I prefer game as it is more environmentally friendly. I grew up in boarding school so little puts me off my food although I do avoid processed meat because of descriptions of what actually goes into it! I prefer my meat to actually have meat in it! I find most people have a pretty good conviction behind why they do or don't eat meat (we did a no meat week for the Waddle and had many discussions about it) so I suspect there is motivate behind these comments. I'd be interested to find out if the author eats meat (and if not, why).

That is my favourite series. It should appeal to you...

Last week I walked 124 km for penguins (check out the facebook page or websites for penguin promises) and we used running as our relief when the walking got too much. I was impressed at how well I could run (thanks to mma fitness classes). Despite my blister covered feet, I'm planning to run my first race (only 3,5 km) on 1 May!!!
