21857 20. Read a book by an author who has the same name (first or surname) as you or a close family member (sibling, parent, spouse or child).

21857 I would have no idea. I would probably just look at the author... but then I read so much that I can normally make the word with only a selection of the books I read in the month.

21857 End of chapter 9.

Yeah, it is times like this when I wish you had to pass a test or something before you can become a parent. Too many kids have to bear the parents responsibilities so their parents can still act like children. I feel sorry for the kids but also frustrated with them for how they act. I suppose I feel most sorry for Kit even if he is a bit of a brat. I keep wondering if Lochan is not somewhere along the autism spectrum, like aspergers or something. Surely if his issue is as extreme as it sounds the school should ensure he gets help. And how can the schools not realise how bad things are if they only ever deal with the kids. When parents never show up for stuff, they should follow up. Not that I want them seperated or sent to foster care, but they could be given support in how to cope.

Yes.

21857 Sorry, I didn't realise it would be so tricky to find them. Yes, writing related careers are allowed.

21857 I thought it would be easy. Surely many new authors have other forms of income, or Indie authors. I guess I didn't think about how tricky it might be for proof. I'm reading Lewis Pugh's latest for that and he is an advocate for environment, extreme swimmer and maritime lawyer as well as author.

21857 16. Read a book set in a real historical place. It does not matter whether the place still exists.
Oct 14, 2013 10:47AM

21857 15. Read a book by an author who has had movies made from one of their books. The book you read does not have to be one that was made into a movie.

21857 Don't forget light sabers!

21857 So we are closer than I thought.

Another reason to read that book...

21857 Yeah, I see that point, but from a background of biological science, the reproducible DNA is a greater indicator. I'm not sure which side I would take. In the story, Andrew does seem to be alive, but I'm aware it is a story. If we were able to produce an Andrew in real life, what rights would he be entitled to as a created machine?

As I said, it could spark interesting debates. I feel that adds a great element to the reading. Without actually dealing with these kind of issues directly or in detail, I was still pondering them while I was reading and even after I finished the book.

Thanks. Found the book that was a major inspiration behind Stardust

21857 What? Wait until book 3 for that info? What are you doing chatting here, go write so we can get book 3 sooner...

(I'm not really serious about that!)

I also loved the connection between the times. They lined up very well. Twists are great, keep them coming.

more Andrew please...

This could be quite interesting as a school set work. It could spark interesting debates related to various ethical aspects. For example, human Android relationships or how autonomous should we allow Androids to be. Why? Also, what is life? Is Andrew alive?

21857 Awesome. It was on our Honours reading list, but we were not examined on it. I was enjoying it but I was tired of thinking reading at the end of honours so I took a break. Two years later I think I'm up for it...

21857 Lu are you reading Collapse? I've read about half of it

21857 I haven't read your comments but seeing the comments makes me want to read it. Gotta get a couple of others finished first...
