208213 Oh, Disobedience! I missed that on the list. It was shown on TIFF last year but it's only being released in theatres this year so it definitely counts for the challenge.
208213 I won't be reading A Wrinkle in Time, but since a lot of people are, keep in mind that any of you is welcome to start a discussion thread.

lol we're staying here! I was waiting for 2017 to end to actually change the name group. now I revamped the homepage a bit and started the new challenge ;)
208213 Welcome to the 2018 challenge!

Suggestions for your book of the month are HERE and HERE.

There ARE other books that qualify for the month but haven't been included in the list (like the new 50 Shades of Grey movie) but if you do pick one that isn't there, make sure it's REALLY coming out in 2018!

/!\ The first post was edited to add the Beatrix Potter book that is being adapted (The Tale of Peter Rabbit). This year there is also Paddington 2 which is based on the Paddington Bear books. And PBS has a Little Women adaptation coming up.

208213 Ok soooo, I've already read The Power by Naomi Alderman, which I liked a lot but think it could have been better developed (esp. towards the end). Still, a fun read.

I read The Remains of the Day by Kazuo Ishiguro. I always feared Ishiguro would be kind of a slog, and then he won the Nobel and I was like, "slog confirmed", but I picked it up with this challenge in mind and SERIOUSLY LOVED it. It's actually REALLY easy to read and very very beautiful. I cried, ngl. This probably sounds funny but I think Downton Abbey fans will enjoy it a lot.

I tried The Essex Serpent by Sarah Perry which was praised everywhere in 2017 but THAT, I found a slog. Sooo boring.

I still have a lot of titles that I wanna try this month, so I'll keep reading!

October Wrap Up (10 new)

208213 damn, you guys kicked ass in October.

I tried to read Bird Box but I thought it was such nonsense! Had to DNF, and then I picked up Dracula and it was like, ok. The beginning was cool, but it's just not very well written and for us 21st century people Dracula is so overdone that he wasn't even that scary. Also could have done without the sexism.

208213 I read Dracula, and it was just ok for me. At least I crossed off another classic from my list.
