Crossed this one off the list, but like Stina, I will keep track of all the ones that fit this category.Bedtime Stories for Cats
Xanthi wrote: "The Dalai Lama's cat is really good! It is the first of a trilogy. Definitely start with that one."I second Xanthi's opinion of The Dalai Lama's Cat. I was gifted a copy at the Oxford Convention and broke my own rules by keeping it instead of passing it on. I did pass on a different copy or two. Didn't know it was a trilogy, though -- gonna have to hunt down the rest of them.
The Green Mile was set in a retirement community?! That is one way to look at prison, I suppose. :)I can't do it -- King is too vivid of a writer for me -- usually about things I don't want to have vivid images of.
A friend of mine said that Anna was the Russian Scarlett O'Hara -- it is one reason I haven't read the book until now.
Stina wrote: "Cheryl wrote: "I have several Star Trek books on my shelf (specifically, Star Trek Voyager) and I think at least one takes place on another planet. If you haven't read it, I cannot speak highly en..."
Everyone I know who has read The Sparrow loved it and, like me, has recommended it to other people. It is worth digging through the boxes to find it and read it.
And if you don't want non-fiction, keep in mind that Michael Crichton was a doctor. As was Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
Stina wrote: "I think I'm going to have to run a challenge that is just for cat-cover books."Oh dear -- my personal quest at the moment is to read no more than one of these a month so that I get variety.
One of the days when I realize being an attorney is a good thing. :)I will keep my eyes peeled for any books about audiologists.
I loved Frankenstein, but mostly because I liked the sociology and psychology of it and wasn't into the concept of horror or sci-fi too much. I loaned it to a friend and she hated it.I did notice that Goodreads has lists from specific decades which included some books that fit this prompt which I own but haven't read. That was a helpful resource.
I enjoyed Obama's Dreams From My Father, although it is memoir but not about politics (he wrote it before he got elected to the Senate) and his Audacity of Hope, although that is not really a memoir. In the past year I have read memoirs by Bill Clinton and Madeleine Albright that were interesting if you like either of them.
Midnight Louie might be where I end up -- I thought about Sneaky Pie Brown, but then realized that those are 3rd person and cover people and animals.
Bill Bryson has a couple of road trip ones, one in the US (not as good as A Walk in the Woods, but that is my favorite so . . .)Road Fever by Tim Cahill was an adventure -- driving up South America from the southern-most point.
