2051 Charlaine Harris is good for a fun, light read.

2051 I've read so many varying opinions on Room - guess I'll have to read it one of these days to see which camp I fall into...

2051 #38-Real Murders-Charlaine Harris

Oh dear, I just bought another 24 books from the Library Used Book Sale (two separate trips). Hence, all the additions to my "To Be Read" list. I have decided to embrace my addiction/obsession - at least I'm not addicted to anything ELSE. I am starting to get rid of some books I know I won't read again - that's real progress for me.

2051 #37-Amy and Isabelle-Elizabeth Strout
Very good novel about the complicated relationship between a mother and her teenage daughter.

2051 #36-Club Dead-Charlaine Harris
This series is my current guilty pleasure.

2051 What a fun (and controversial) question! It's interesting to see the different opinions. For example, I loved The Elegance of the Hedgehog and The Catcher in the Rye

Here are my 1-stars:

The Wedding - Nicholas Sparks
Beyond sappy, and I guessed the "secret" near the beginning of the book.

Tricky Business - Dave Barry
I think Dave Barry's other books are hilarious, but this foray into fiction was not.

Running With Scissors - Augusten Burroughs
Made me feel like I needed to take a shower.

Interview With the Vampire - Anne Rice
I know a lot of people love this series. I just don't like the way she writes - too many superfluous adjectives or something.

Isle of Dogs - Patricia Cornwell
Possibly the worst of the bunch. Patricia should stick with her Kay Scarpetta novels and NOT try to be funny.

I did finish all of these because I'm obsessive-compulsive that way.
2051 "Whew" is right! You have inspired me to plan my reading better (I keep picking up random stuff, and my TBR list keeps getting longer).

2051 Never too late! You're right on pace to finish 50 by year's end!

2051 Or maybe Compulsive Overreaders?! :)

2051 #35-The Secret of the Old Clock-Carolyn Keene
Love to re-read a childhood favorite now and then...

2051 #34-Room on the Roof-Ruskin Bond
I read a LOT last weekend!
Apr 12, 2011 05:13PM

2051 #33-For One More Day-Mitch Albom
Moral: appreciate your mother!
Apr 12, 2011 05:12PM

2051 #32-The House on Mango Street-Sandra Cisneros
Classic story of a Latina girl growing up - told in a series of vignettes.

2051 #31-T is for Trespass-Sue Grafton
Have read all these except for 'U'...will read that soon. I feel like Kinsey Milhone is an old friend. I hope she doesn't leave us after 'Z'...

I loved this book as well. I was surprised at how entertaining it was, since the format was so unusual.

2051 30 so far! I have been able to read a lot the last few months. My highest yearly count ever was 62 (last year), so I hope to top that this year.

2051 Alex, I recommend Jane Austen's other books as well. I've read them all except Persuasion. I find her wit highly entertaining!

2051 #30-Last Lion: The Fall and Rise of Ted Kennedy-Ed. by Peter S. Canellos
I do love a well-written biography, and I've always been fascinated with the Kennedys. I doubt we'll see another Senator as devoted to public service as Ted was.

2051 Most of my re-reads are classics - ones that I read many years ago and my daughters are reading now. I find I enjoy most of them more the 2nd time around - probably because a teacher isn't MAKING me read it! :)
