201765 Cat 5 Irma now with 175 mph winds. Spaghetti Models from tropicaltidbits.com show the gradual shift to the west overnight. It is important to also show the EURO and GFS ensembles from weathernerds.org. EURO has trended more to the west and the GFS more the east. Still several members take Irma to possible east coast states so don't stop watching GA/SC/NC/VA. It is coming down to an expected turn. When that happens is a big factor on who gets what. Hurricane Warnings are posted for VI/PR and the northern Lesser Antilles. Watches up for DR. Keys and southern Florida should be getting a little anxious. Timing puts potential Irma there as soon as Saturday afternoon/night. I will be going live at 9am eastern to talk more. Everything you need on Hurricane Irma on my site and APP: www.spaghettimodels.com / Mikes Weather

My data show Saturday afternoon...southern Florida, the Keys. If it doesn't turn, and it heads into the Gulf, it is NOT going to be good. Regardless, this is a very dangerous storm.

201765 I just checked the 8 AM Monday Sep 11, current US model (GFS), European (ECMWF) and new experimental US model (FvGFS) data with a friend...all show Irma just off the east coast of central Florida. Winds expected to hit 150 mph soon.

201765 We got sick and tired of the repeated power outages when we lived in Virginia, and so, we installed a 10kW natural-gas-powered electric generator than ran everything but the whole-house AC when the power went out. Within a month of getting it up and running, we were hit with a hurricane that took out the electricity for three days. We had the only electricity within quite a few blocks until they were able to remove a fallen tree. There were several other instances where the generator saved the house from water damage (sump pump power), and in the end, it was one of the features that loomed large in the buyers' minds when they purchased the house. I wish we had one now, but I doubt they would let me install it in our community, given they are somewhat noisy and you need a Papel Dispensation to get something approved for installation on your grounds.

201765 Hi, Carole and R.L....

Yes, we can only hope it hooks to the right and takes off into the Atlantic. That spaghettimodels site is just about the best on the Internet...keep a close eye on it, especially in regards to what the major US and EURO/UKM models are saying.

Alyssa Devine is the Readers’ Choice in this week’s Indies Unlimited Flash Fiction Challenge. The winning entry is decided by the popular vote and rewarded with a special feature here today. (In the case of a tie, the writer who submitted an entry first is the winner per our rules.)

Thanks for supporting Alyssa's efforts!

I'll be the one submitting a story for next week's competition. It is one about a discussion over beers between two friends regarding the love life of one. I think you'll enjoy the exchange.

201765 Hey, Guys and Gals...

My Webmaster just brought up the new Webpage for Creative Ink, Flashy Fiction, my new anthology of literary short-story fiction that will be published in February, 2018. The page can be found here:

https://www.theodore-cohen-novels.com...

Available is an excerpt on Bonnie and Clyde you might enjoy! All of the stories in the book (there are more than 60) contain 250 words or less--true "flash fiction."

Watch this space (as they say)!

Ted

PS Please know that for now, the Amazon hotlink on this page takes you to the last in the series of Det. Louis Martelli, NYPD, mystery/thrillers. T

I understand, but I had a very bad experience with social media some years ago, and every since, want nothing to do with it. To me, it's just not worth the candle.
