My issue is, I don't like the look of my blogspot and am not keen on their templates which might have changed since I last looked.I am already paying £115 a year for 1&1 to host my domain name and email. It seems they want an extra £6.99 a month to host a website.
I hate naming things. I google everything. I've had to rename characters who are also people appearing on reality TV that I don't watch but have managed to infiltrate my consciousness. Writing science fiction means I can use odd names for people. Mothball is one. Track is another. I have no idea where Jarner came from. I try to avoid giving people two names in case someone complains I've used them in a book. Although, if I was someone called Mothball, I'd probably apply to change my name.
I have a blogger thingy that hasn't been updated in ages in favour of earning pennies from Medium.Whilst on Medium this morning I stumbled on an article stating that all authors should have a personal website, not just a wordpress/blogspot one.
My questions are:
1. Do you think that's true?
2. Does anywhere claiming to host free websites actually host websites for free? A lot of them claim to be free and then say it's £x a month.
3. If you have one, who do you use to host your website?
Thanks.
Agree with you there Evelyn. It’s one of the things that annoys me the most. That and the fact in the current economic reality I can’t justify the expense of a professional editor no matter how reasonably priced they are. One person’s reasonable is another person’s aspiration.
That's fair enough. As it'll be less than their top limit for a "bargain" book, I may wait until then. I'm still not sure what to price it at.
I just aim to be coherent! I'm looking at Bargain Booksy-do they allow pre-orders? I can't find anything that says they don't or should I wait until it's released?
I've sent it now. Hopefully it's OK. I also haven't put a subscribe to my newsletter thing anywhere. What's more, I don't know where to put it or how to do it. #UghThingsToDo
What I find intensely annoying is the time it takes me to get anything, and I mean anything ready to my standard. I've spent over half an hour on a mailchimp newsletter for Missing Remnants and I'm still not ready. How hard can it be? It's only an email.
I’ve only joined a couple. I need to find a couple more. It takes a lot of time in the end to keep up with everything so I’m trying to join things in a sensible manner.
Fantastic result Alexis. I’m still contemplating what I do with my latest. So far I have Facebook and Twitter. I did a actually fire up mailchimp yesterday so I suppose that’s a good thing.
I’ve not been very good with my homework for a while now. It’s very spasmodic. I’m reading more now my vision is compromised. Clearly, I am a masochist.
I’m the same. I’ve always had to finish everything I’ve started whether it’s a book or a film. So far this year I’ve been picky. I’m reading you, RL, Carole’s Bulwark, an audio book from Ted, an audio book of Michael’s. I will finish them all. But I can’t guarantee I’ll finish them all this year lol. #SlowReader
That’s the first one init? I’ve read the others but not the first which is not like me. I don’t do things out of order. Reading Cas at the moment. So many books, so little time.
