If you do, stores may be less likely to chance buying your books, but you won't be stuck with an unforseen expense. I would look into that a little further though incase I misunderstood.
For your first book, you might try createspace since it is a little more user friendly and there is no set up fee. Just my thoughts. Ingram spark isn't as user friendly but a good alternative/next step.My goals this week: it's a busy week so I have one goal...Try to set up a hardcover edition for my recent release.
Can you use the same PDF files for Ingram that you used for createspace (for paperback) or do you have to resize your files?
I agree with C.L. While there are a lot of people entering giveaways with no intention to even read the book, there are also a lot of other people who are legitimately looking for their next read. I see it as a way to get publicity. I normally see a spike in my Goodreads followers when I am hosting a giveaways and have even had readers contact me with questions that are unrelated to the giveaway. I don't do Goodreads giveaways frequently. I like to spread my giveaways across various locations (social media, blogs, bookstores, etc.).
Let us know what happens. Selling such a small amount of books and being able to keep a close eye on what is happening, I can say that you don't get credited for a sale until the book prints and ships. I have had some sales take up to a week to show up.

I like it when blurbs include an excerpt. They are normally what hook me. I don't include them because...well...a decent excerpt would probably be half of the book. lol
It has been a little while since I have been on this thread and I am excited to see so many new faces! Welcome everyone. This is a fabulously supportive group. I am looking forward to getting to know all of you better during our events and discussions!
