201765 I'm hopeless at drawing of any sort, so they are all rough and drawn in pencil so I can make alterations as the story demands. And I hate having to stop the storytelling in order to do this.

201765 I have maps for my villages and surrounding countryside. I also have 'maps' of the inside of houses/cottages. I sometimes have to consult them and let my fingers do some walking around.
201765 I'm so sorry, I can only follow and cheer in spirit. I don't do other social media because of insufficient time to keep up.

Good to see that those who do are supporting each other.

Carole is the exception.

201765 Well done for getting in the black - I wish I could say the same!

201765 Hospital trips seem to take up a lot more time than we expect but it's good to know they are worthwhile, Alex.

201765 Good for you!

201765 I've been surprised to find that my books come up on .com as 'rated by customers interested in: children's books'. No way is it a children's book. But I can see how it happens. People buy books for children at Christmas or whatever and then buy my book and so...

I can see how it could cause you problems.

Still, I think they do a good job on the whole and if you let them know it must be helpful for them.

201765 Interesting, Carmel. Nothing is perfect, it seems...

This is it, Erica. This is my brother.

Wow - wonderful, so pleased for him. So very pleased.

That sounds amazing, Carole. Loss of eyesight must be devastating.

201765 Useful, Alex, thank you.

In the UK I've got mine as low as allowed for them still to be in KCD's and KU.

In the US, it's the same except for my time travel which jogs along at $3.25. I upped it from $2.99 several months ago and there have been no ill effects. It pays for a bit more advertising rather than going into my pocket.

201765 Where's he got our email addresses from?
Feb 17, 2018 08:49AM

201765 Just had this in my private email given out only to blog interviewers (usually). This means it's someone who has accessed the private messages, so Goodreads, I hope you will make it more secure.

"I found you on Goodreads. I saw that you were asking for reviews there. If you still want reviews for your book, then please contact me for more details (tirekickers and time wasters, please ignore this message). Keith H"

There is absolutely no way I have been asking for reviews - I avoid this like the plague.

So beware! Again...

201765 A warning from A.F. a moderator on another group:

If you see any post by a James, or James Dawson, in this group or another group, labelled: "For Authors Looking for FREE Promotion and REVIEWS" or "Looking For ACTIVE Book Reviewers" or "Looking For PASSIONATE Book Reviewers" please do not join or sign up for anything he offers. At the very least this guy is an aggressive spammer, at worst running a scam.

She has discovered him under other names too.

201765 And a Happy Memories' Day for some.
Feb 13, 2018 01:28AM

201765 Oh... for those suffering in one way or another, my heart goes out to you and, like Carole, I wish I could help. The very fact that you are there, Amy, for your children is better than some children's childhood. Talking to them, listening and responding is worth a lot, so don't underestimate yourself.

Big hugs for those struggling to smile.
The Oxford comma (19 new)
Feb 12, 2018 01:11AM

201765 I'm just checking in here before I disappear for the day so I haven't got time to read the article yet but I have, have, have to say that I approve of the Oxford comma as sometimes it is vital to make sense of a list or a sentence.

Yes Theo, I use them too. As I am my own editor, I only have myself to agonize with. Or, with whom to agonize.

201765 Alex, I can't share because I don't belong to FB and Twit or anything else really, so sorry.

If there was a 'like' button here, I'd press it!
