Dale, a lot of awesome comments. Thank you so much for your thoughts and time!!!
Hello, I have a book blurb too I'm working on and would love some input! It is for a MM fantasy with romantic subplot.
..............
A broken mage, a penitent vampire, can they put aside the horrors of the past to save each other?
Ten years into Nicodemus Green's quest to end an evil sorcerer bent on Godhood, he stumbles on his former Academy instructor in the Austrian mountains. The strict and pious Byron Domitius has shut himself away in an isolated manor, wasting away. Alone and starving, he hates the twisted, damned creature he has become.
A prophecy calls for Nick and Byron to bond by blood to finally bring an end to the sorcerer's evil plans. As the two learn to see beyond their past, Nick finds himself desiring more from his old instructor than just his magic. But are these emotions real, or do they come from the heat of their bond?
I tend to review books like I've been editing them and dish out a list of problems. It's a bad habit and not sure if it's useful to other readers, which is the point of a review.I do try to focus on the good, too, but that's usually more amorphous.
It's so weird... after looking more, I saw they removed this reviewers reviews on all of my books. I don't know her. She was part of a 'give a book away for an honest review' promo. It sucks, because I have so few reviews. I'm kinda in hating on amazon mode right now.
So, I don't have many reviews, but I put my new book out through a promotion site and got 4 reviews! Yay... but amazon removed one. I've no idea why, or even remember which one. I think it was my 5 star review. And So, I"m wondering... is there anything I can do? All of those reviews were 'I give you a book for an honest review' situation, but the 5 star was taken away. I only had 4 reviews! So, this hurts me.I'm venting, but also wondering is there anything I can do?

I'm interested... but I don't currently have a mailing list because Mailchimp purged my account from lack of use. Can I just collect emails to use in my own mailing program through this? I'm a bit mailing list shy due to the purging when I had no warning and it wasn't even in the fine print that I'd have my account closed. Or, does anyone have another mailing list suggestion where they do not close you down? Thanks!
I interviewed a publicist once and the things she talked about, I felt I could do (which I really didn't have a clue at the time, so didn't do). This was for a book published by a small press, so I didn't have complete control. The cost was out of my price range, which isn't big (I think it was $3000 for a 6? month campaign) and I just didn't have that kind of cash, or really expect to make up the money for a single, stand alone, debut book. But, that's my limited experience, which really isn't much since I've not actually hired one.
I started an Instagram and I mainly post pictures of the outdoors. If anyone wants to follow, its here:https://www.instagram.com/natkennedyb...
(not sure if I posted this or not.)
Yay for plot hole fixes! That is always a reason to celebrate. Hope you feel better to find more time to write. Back pain sucks... My mother had chronic pain and so I get it, from an outside observer.Take care of yourself.
Alex, that would be lovely. Should I email you something or PM through goodreads? Yay! You are awesome!
Upcoming release on June 14th: Afflicted to the Core: Wielder World 3It’s released at a discounted price. Also, you’ll find Edge of Desperation (WW1) and Center of Deception (WW2) free and discounted as well. Plus the short story that falls between WW2 and WW3 will also be free (though it’s always available on my website for free.)
These are gay urban fantasy set in a world where people Wield the Nerve of the World: aka do magic. Women Wield with no problems. Men, though, pay for the use of the Nerve with Taint (a compulsion) and Corruption (a mutation.) The story follows three male Wielders and their struggle to not fall to their afflictions as well as trying to find out more about the shadow government trying to keep the cure away from them.
Torture and fleeing from the law and body corruption and dedication and love. :)
Fun stuff!

This is old, but I love talking plot... Alexis if you wanted to chat, we could email. But I mainly chat plot with my friend Sonja and my friend John. Both are so different, but they listen to my rambling and actually give me ideas and avenues to consider. I have other friends that just nod and don't get it... they think I want support. I don't want that, I want ideas! (though support is always nice.)
That is awesome Alex! Cheering for you.My good news is that my third novel to my series releases this Friday. Afflicted to the Core! I'm not fast like some of you writers out there. It's been three years since I published the two novellas and so it's a long time coming. I worked hard and look where I am, a new book!
Shiny!
SAM!!!!! It's good to hear from you.So... for me, I write the story in Word (sure it takes me years, but that's the first step.) Are you focusing on getting back into writing, fixing the plot hole, or just the publishing side.
if you want to talk plot... I'm your woman. Email me at natkennedybooks at gmail if you want to flesh out plot holes.
As for the actual publishing.... I just write it in Word and have this standard ebook formatting stuff I set up (always use styles, don't format inline, etc. header footer heights, etc.... I got this from various websites and can share that as well.) But I've only done ebooks.
I have edited/formatted one print book and I just, again, followed the format a small press gave me on margins and spaces etc. I didn't use a template/program. Then I sent the formatted .doc to the press and they did everything else. So, I'm not much help there.
I wish you much luck.
