Very cool, and Congrats!!!
My friend was in a boxed set that got on USA today's list. She was virtually unknown and luckily landed in the group. I'd be interested in getting involved in one as well. I write urban fantasy (fantasy in general). I don't think all the books in a boxed set need to be in the same genre specifically, but should be all sci fi or all fantasy. IMHO.
Ember wrote: "Thanks Nat! I saw a video series about how to have the perfect year releasing books from JA Huss and she gave the advice that an author should release as often as they can. 6 books a year and keep ..."Well if you need a boost or a push, let me know (on FB or TW or however.)
I wish I could do that. Maybe next year. I just don't have the mojo this year.
Ellis, how do we do the marketing? I don't do it very well.I will randomly grab a few hours here or there when I'm inspired or in the mood. I don't set aside specific time to do that. But I also think a portion of your day versus the entire day. Mix it up a bit. But whatever works for you!

And I'm sorry you lost one, but happy you were able to give it a good few years.

Song Fic!I have some songs that totally put me in the mood. I used to make playlists when I was writing certain things. But I don't know Sam Hunt very well, but glad he's inspiring you!
Ember wrote: "Hi Mike! I would say sooner rather than later! I myself have been releasing every two or so months to keep readers interest. I think if you get your library packed with books then other things will..."I didn't realize that, Ember. Wow, that's great. I wish I had your dedication... And I think you're right too.
Kids and writing and life and a job and a.... too much! I admire all of you. I've got it pretty cushy and my only failings are due to my lack of gumption. Good luck to the kids on A Levels and I hope you feel better soon, Alex.
I had goals this weekend, but then I went camping.New week goals. Finish a chapter, edit a short story, and pick a cover artist for the short story (does this sound repetitious... yeah, it is.)
I feel like the mythical creature and beautiful elf are add ons tacked to the end. What mythical creature, and as another said, what feelings. And does everyone have a magical talent? That part is the one that confused me. Sounds like everyone works magic, but her time one is just rare, but it's not clear.
Sounds fun!
I know! I've met some awesome people here on Goodreads. You're not a fraud. I think that we're all in the same boat. Some people figure it out faster. Some people have a different path. But we're here because we like writing and read and want to share stories.
Glad to see you're interacting there. I followed you to one of the groups and did an intro post there too.
Thanks all. Yeah, I was totally emotionally reactive. I wanted to lash out, but decided on the blocking. I don't need those kind of people in my life!
So, I posted on another blog a political picture, with no opinion really, just the pic. I tend to not be political on any author type platforms, but this pic was fairly humorous. And I got attacked for it.
I was, in fact, called a fascist when I asked the arguer not to argue on my feed. (seriously... talk about judgement without any basis.) He said it was ridiculous that I would expect that I was the only opinion allowed on my feed. (which isn't what I said, but it is what I expect.) And that I'm 'just like all the others' whatever that means.
But it really bothered me. I totally wanted to argue and defend myself. Instead I blocked the poster.
Amy wrote: "My goal for this week was to find interesting parties to beta read it. I have looked and the active erotica groups are few and far between. And even fewer for the mixture I have created. I tried to post in one but I removed the post because I've added women and that group was active, but I'm under the impression that MM plus female action would be unwanted. ."I am in a review group exchange right now so can't take on any betas, but if you need one later, I'll beta for you. (just remind me later, like in July is when the review round is over.)
Try joining some of the beta groups (check my groups listing) and plop down that you have het and gay erotica... someone might bite.
Amy wrote: "Thanks Sam, appreciate it.Right I am a member of two M/M romance groups I can't really post in yet because both my books have women in them. Also, three erotica groups, two aren't highly active. ..."
I would suggest you still interact. Do the intro, comment on a few threads. Even if it's horrible feeling, try to be a little active, so when your book does come out, you can say you've been active.
You talk to us just fine! We don't throw tomatoes at you. ;)
Alexis wrote: "You took the advice about the book(s) being on the landing page. I'm so happy. :,) I'm working on part 2 of the tutorial right now."
You wrote a tutorial! Where is it? I want to use it too. :)
Okay: Goals!I am setting aside an hour a day, NO MATTER WHAT, moving to my bedroom, out of the dining area that is well trafficked, to focus on my current WIP. I intend on completing, on this second draft, two chapters a week. Doable. Totally doable!
*deep breath*
