I'm a member. You receive a monthly magazine, discounts, special events like library blasts, most of which are pricey for me at least. There's a forum where you can ask questions to experts in their fields, like marketing, videos. There's also a group site for authors like this one.

I'm not giving the local library more books, but I'm going to ask if I can put promotional cards on their desk... and will ask what they can do to promote local authors, we're taxpayers, after all..

My library for children (a whole library devoted to children) showed no interest when I told them about my book for French. And I had donated a book for Spanish. Also the librarian said that she wouldn't review the book, even though she writes a newspaper column about books for adults. I don't feel like donating another.
