Yes, but remember only two books per person so you'd have to get rid of one of the two that you've already submitted.

That's not a silly idea at all!

I think I understand what you mean. I'm not going to make bookpages for every book everyone has, because some of you have a lot of books. But I'd be open to turning the book pages from this
http://navigatingindieworld.com/meet-...

To something like this http://navigatingindieworld.com/meet-...

With every book linking to Amazon and then taking the Amazon link out of the grey header section.

(Just wanted to repeat: we're always looking for new members to join the project. If you're handy with PR, scouting for blog articles or just want a more active role, please let me know.)

201765 You don't have to follow the conversation in the thread in this folder labelled "discussion" if you don't want to. I will make sure to mention all important developments in this pinned thread as well.

201765 I used my newly gained mod power to clean up the folder and hopefully make everything much clearer for everyone. However, i you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask me.

Hello! A lot of you have submitted your books to be included on our new website, www.navigatingindieworld.com. Thank you for that!

For those that are still a bit confused about the website and it's purpose, let me walk you through it. Navigating Indieworld is a non-profit site developed to help indies promote their books to the general public. It was put together on a whim, after a couple of us started to discuss the rise of collaborative marketing efforts in the indie community. Chances are you've participated in a couple of these events in the past.

However, we wanted to create a home base that allows for a more permanent collaborative marketing effort.
What does this entail?
Well, it's pretty simple.

1. You submit a maximum of two of your books to our website via this thread.
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

2. We will then create a webpage for your book.
It will look like this:
http://navigatingindieworld.com/book/...

As you can see, we will present our visitors with a nice, clean page that includes the blurb to your book, the cover and a link to amazon.com (We will soon add the prices as well.)

3. In addition to the book page, every author gets an author page.
It will look like this:
http://navigatingindieworld.com/autho...
And can be reached via the INDIE AUTHORS DIRECTORY or your individual bookpage(s). The author page will contain your picture, your bio, links to your websites and social media and links to the books featured on NavigatingIndieworld.com.

The information presented on the author page will be lifted from your author page on Amazon.com. If you want us to change anything, use the contact form on navigatingindieworld.com to reach us. (You can find it in the footer.)

4. We will organize a BIG group event a couple of times a year in order to promote all the books featured on our website. The first one that we're organizing will consist of us enticing readers to buy our books by promoting the heck out of it and offering readers the opportunity to win big prizes. Readers can "earn" entries by posting about our event online and of course, buying the books listed on the website. We will ask for your feedback and opinions every step of the way. In the end, after taking said feedback into account, we will provide you with promotion material, like the one below.
http://navigatingindieworld.com/wp-co...
We would then ask you to share the promo material on all your social media accounts and with all your friends.

5. We're working hard on finishing the website and making it look amazing and accessible. Instead of grouping ALL the different types of books together, we've opted to split them in different categories. That way it's easy for consumers to find the books they want to read without having to browse through dozens of books. HOWEVER, we've also made sure to give each genre a cool, eye catching IMAGE so that maybe someone looking to buy a romance novel might be tempted to check out the books labelled as fantasy as well.

You can check out the HOME/FRONTPAGE of the event/permanent library here:
http://navigatingindieworld.com/portf...
Make sure to click on the images and check out the books that have already been added!

(Please note that the text used on that page is not final since we're still debating the name of the first event. It is planned for the end of March.)

We want to turn this website into a cool resource for indie authors as well, and will therefore post interesting articles on the blog that you can read and comment on.
We urge you to submit articles and be an active participant.
After all, a popular website benefits us all.

Please only use this thread for question. We have a discussion thread regarding NI.com for informal, fun talk. :)

I agree. Maybe we should delete the info thread website and just focus on this one. And limit off topic conversation (yes - I'm talking to myself here lol).

201765 ALSO: If you want to be featured on the website, please drop a maximum of TWO books in this thread:
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

And visit: www.navigatingindieworld.com to see if we've added you.

Our first event will be focused on promoting all the authors featured on the website and will take place in March! We will hold giveaways to lure consumers to the website and to your books.

We're working really hard to present a beautiful and easy to navigate website.

Spread the word!

Oh, you really didn't have to do that! That means I have to behave. =/:p
Feb 25, 2017 08:34PM

201765 I think that we should make a new thread that explains the purpose of the event. I think we forget that not everyone follows every conversation on the forum like we do and there seems to be some confusion about the website/event.

So, I think that someone should mention how it all begun (the need for a collaborative marketing effort that required a bit of an investment (pretty website, big giveaway but that would hopefully pay big dividends)), what we will ask authors to contribute (social media promoting etc) and what we, as organizors will present them: promotion material+ cool website that consumers can visit etc.

Let's offer the people a bit of clarity. :p

Marie wrote: "Wow this all looks fantastic! And well done on the Forbes article Carole and Julie!! That must feel amazing :)

So if I understand this event correctly, we should guest post to the blog ??"

Popping in to say that Erica is right. We're going to use the website to offer interesting, compelling stories that everyone could learn from. You don't have to submit an article to participate in the IndieBooks event, but the more active our website is the better. It could even help with it's google ranking. I've been shamelessly asking cool indies I know for articles, including T.J. Slee who won the $5,000 fiction prize from Publisher's Weekly this year! He said YES! :D

But we'll also publish articles from people struggling and growing frustrated by the whole self publishing thing, to show that this journey is hard (but worth it.)

We have some new features:

1. Some genres got new pictures :D, namely Fantasy and Memoir. We added a new genre: Historical Fiction
http://navigatingindieworld.com/portf...

2. The indie authors directory is up and running. We're up to 26 authors now. Check your links to make sure everything works.
http://navigatingindieworld.com/indie...

3. Erin set up an automatic submission system where you can send us cool articles. http://navigatingindieworld.com/submi...

4. We also added a link to facebook and an IN THE NEWS section that features a screenshot and link to Carole's Forbes debut
http://navigatingindieworld.com/foote...

5. I will not be on Goodreads a lot these days but I get notifications from the BOOK EVENT LIST THREAD on here and will add your books even during my little "vacation"

6. We're also working on PROMO Material. We're looking for a volunteer to come up with catchy phrases, fix the text etc etc. Check what we have so far, but please note that the texts added are just me messing around and may have grammar/spelling issues lol
http://navigatingindieworld.com/promo/

7. We need to set a date for the event!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think that's it. Let me know if you have an idea to improve the site or if you'd like to contribute. We (Erin and I) are not powerhungry and will gladly make room for new people. So please, don't be shy. Be daring! (So cheesy, but I had to do it. Lol!)

Bye!
