I also like the intros to the stories, and the use of folklore in them (the stories). Good choice!

The goodreads page is here.
I can't update Mike's original post, b..."Something I already own! yay!

Thank you for your responses Lenny and Nancy. I would suggest that having scantily clad females around is how patriarchy works - that's why it is the Patriarchy. So I don't see the choice and only a little of the trope reversal. As a likely flawed example, booth babes are how Patriarchy works too - to say that women can also "admire" them seems secondary to main point that they are a sexist construct.
Edited to add: That said, I understand that as an older white guy, many, many stories have been written for me so I might be downplaying (from ignorance, rather than maliciousness I think) the importance of a story written for me, or me in a story, in my thinking.

Your text seems to indicate that since it isn't just guys doing the "admiration", it's somehow ok? Am I reading that right?
Kara wrote: "Aaaaah! I'm so sorry they moved the schedule, I'll update my pick to something available now!"Thanks! I think it possible that it gets delayed even further into 2020, so making a change is a great idea.

Would it be possible to replace Place Tectonics with something that's actually out and available now?

I think it's a show that merits re-watching to pick up on all the things one missed the previous go around. Can't wait to see what happens/how they show it in the finale.

Re: Skull and Hati - did anyone else feel like they upstaged the main character/plotline? I felt more of a draw to read more of them to be honest.
OK TO AIR

Since its series finale is this coming week I thought I'd post a thread about the show. Like Doom Patrol, I often get that "what did I just watch?" feel but in a very good way. I'm not saying that all TV should be like this, but for visual and storytelling creativity, I think there's some interesting information to be had. Is anyone else watching?

IIRC It lands around Thanksgiving.

Yeah, I think that needs to be changed to something that's already bee..."I was rather hoping the same because it's coming out so late in the year and having to pay a premium for it.

Apart from the not yet released Plate Tectonics (now Nov 2019 apparently), I've read all of the challenge books.

Thanks! The shipping to Europe is gonna cost me as much as the book itself :c Although I've just checked Abe Bo..."I would suggest giving the library a try. The text in the book is pretty basic, and google translate can help with the rest. Would be much cheaper than the alternative.
Inga wrote: "Can anyone advise where to get Alone by Christophe Chabouté? It's a bit too expensive for me to buy on Amazon :("I'm seeing the paperback listed for $10.56 on Amazon US. There are used copies available for less than that.
I could have sworn when I looked up information on this book, it was only available in physical editions, but there is now a Kindle edition (which is more expensive than the physical copy - grrrrr).
Lenny wrote: "Just finished Fence, Volume 1 and wow, what a perfect summer read. It reminded me of the anime Ouran High School Host Club. It's fun and silly and wonderful. Anime?), so I am unfamiliar with the tropes. One thing that seemed very Japanese was the inclusion of technical information about fencing - how the sword should be held etc.

It looks like DC will be using age ratings to differentiate their various imprints rather than the imprints themselves.

The Megahex series is on sale at Comixology as part of the Fantagraphics Pride Sale.

Started I Am A Hero - and was promptly confused. Better now that I'm 5 issues in. lol

I hope I start liking more as I go on. I'm about half-way through, and I really can't empathize with the characters or their pro..."All I can say is I found the ending surprisingly satisfying. (And not just because it was the end.)
