189072 Getting a shout out when you reach 100 books has officially become a thing now! So, Congratulations to John for joining the 100 club!

I know how much you wanted to beat Slytherin last month. Remember that just because we lost against them in the monthly match up doesn't mean we can't still catch up with them for the overall score! ;)

189072 Great job last month you guys! We got nearly 6 more points in November than we had in October! I know I read much more than I would have normally, which is what this challenge is all about anyway.

First scores of December:
Hufflepuff: 0.64
Ravenclaw: 0.37

Congratulations to Sarina for being the second Hufflepuff to read over 100 books during this challenge! :)

189072 Hufflepuff: 13.88
Slytherin: 14.39

Slytherin has taken the lead! :(
We really gave it our all! There is still a little time left to post November books, but it is not looking good for us. Regardless we read so much more this month than we did last month. I am so proud of all of us!

189072 Not updating because I have to go read with my last 2.5 hours, but Slytherins top reader just posted all 124 of her November reads tonight! With her books alone that would put them at just over 12.50! If you still have time left and can read some more please do! It's going to be really close!
Nov 30, 2018 08:46AM

189072 It's already the last day of the month! November went by so fast! Remember you can still post books until the end of the day tomorrow but they must have been finished by today (30 November).

We won't know for sure until the end of the day tomorrow, but so far we've managed to stay ahead of Slytherin! Go badgers! They have a lot less people in their house, so any last minute reads they add will have a bigger affect on their average. So don't start celebrating yet, but they are going to have to read a lot to catch up with us!

Slytherin: 9.09

Great job guys, I just added 50 books to our totals today! Thank you everyone who is trying to get some last minute books read. I'm not sure I'll have the time to join you this month, but maybe I can squeeze in a couple Dr. Seuss books today or tomorrow. ;)

Just like last month, all November books must be finished in November in your own time zone. They must be posted by December 1st 23:59 UTC-12 to count towards Novembers points against Slytherin. As promised, here is a link to check the time: https://time.is/IDLW

Even if you don't get your books posted by the deadline, they will still count towards our overall score!

I'm not sure how we handle compilation books. This one is four stand alone books.

As much as I would love to give 4 points for this, I've counted it as 1. Most these books are only published (in book form) in the collected Four Past Midnight. They exist separately as audiobooks. If someone listened to the individual audiobooks they would count as separate reads, but because you read the compiled version I can only give one point.

I know it doesn't seem very fair. There has been a discussion on the main thread about how longer books should be worth more points. I think most people agree it would be better, but it won't go into effect until next years House Cup Challenge.

189072 Hufflepuff: 9.41
Slytherin: 8.51

Now that we are at the end of the month some of the Slytherins have stepped up their reading and are trying to catch up with us. So just keep on doing what you've been doing and post those books!

I agree with you for the most part, I didn't like the characters and I thought the book was really drawn out. However, I felt the opposite of you when it came to the philosophy and politics discussed in the book. I thought it was very interesting hearing them discuss those topics. I had to force myself to read through all the drama that I just couldn't get myself to care about.

This is the first time I have read Tolstoy, and I was really hoping to enjoy it, but I just didn't. I do appreciate his ability to, as Bri said, write in a way both "powerful and meaningful in a quiet, collected way" I'm not completely writing off Tolstoy as an author, but I think it will be awhile before I try another one of his books.

Glad you caught that, I would have never known! updated now.

Yes, I think we can win this month too! We've been doing great all month and throughout this challenge. We've just reached over 1,000 books overall, and that is impressive whether we win or not! :)
Nov 26, 2018 08:22AM

189072 Hufflepuff: 8.92
Slytherin: 7.87

Sorry for not updating, this weekend was crazy busy! Slytherin is not ahead of us! Although last time I updated we were two points ahead of them and now we are only one point ahead. So they have caught up.

We only have 5 days left in the month! Just like last month you will have until the end of the day December 1st to post all of your November reads. I'll post a link to the international deadline again in a few days. We have done so well this month, we've got this!
