189072 The story also had strong religious overtones. The chanting of the laws, the deification of Moreau, the "sayer" of the laws, all reminded me of religious practices. I have to assume that Wells was not a fan.

189072 I was blissfully unaware of vivisection before reading this book. The torture of animals makes me nauseous and I found that aspect horrific. I also wonder whether vivisection was an accepted practice in 1896. Anyone know?
