I second The Thursday Murder Club.

I'll be reading this one too because I believe robotics and AI are creeping into our day-to-day activities. I want to understand more about the topic.

I second The Lovely Bones.

This begins our 5th group read of this classic story, nominated by
Lina. It's our most re-read book of all! Who will be joining? Why do you think it remains such a popular one?

This is the Pre-Read thread for the
March 2023 Classics selection. This month we will be reading the book
Lady Chatterley's Lover by
D.H. Lawrence, nominated by
Kimberly.

SPOILER FREE discussion.
Who's planning to join in on this read? Why did you choose to embrace this particular book? Any expectations?

I imagined Grenouille as part dog, part human. His sense of smell, his hunched-over posture, his ability to show subservience. He was sometimes treated like a dog, and even lived animal-like, at times.

Thank you everyone for the great suggestions this month. Nominations are now closed, but polls are open for your vote here:

The moderator team has discussed the idea of limiting modern book nominations by publication date. We unanimously agreed NOT to further limit the selection, remembering that these are just nominations by a small subset of members. Historically, the polls have always favoured older books, with one exception last month. If this trend continues, we'll revisit the idea, but for now, it's business as usual.

I'm glad my mom died was hyp..."Mariana, I understand your concern and yes, one of the nominated books was published just last year. Our 50K ratings rule was established so that only "well-read" books were nominated. Surely, this uber-popular book will reach you very soon too. Hang in there!

The title really threw me too. It upset me at first, but then I realized it probably was intended to do so. In any case, I'll be reading it too.
