185 Well, there are sequels too.

In the original Inkheart, the MC always stays in the real world, and for the most part it's about characters who come out of books. The MC's mom disappeared when she was little, but her Dad is still alive.

The sequels are about the MC going into the book (called Inkheart), but not the first book.

And if you're interested in the same kind of book, where people go into books, there's a cool Listopia with those kinds of books on it: https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1...

185 The City of Ember is a middle grade post-apocalyptic book & series. It's definitely appropriate for readers that age (no romance, extreme violence, etc.) There is also a movie adaptation of the book, and I thought the visuals in it were really nice.
185 I think Carter may be looking for the first book in the series that Kris mentioned, Click Here: To Find Out How I Survived Seventh Grade
185 That sounds interesting! Do you know if the ghost turned out to be "real" or not?

The plot doesn't ring a bell for me, but here's a list of 90s ghost stories (and there are links to other decades there too)

185 A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness.

I think I heard that they're making a movie out of it, btw.
185 Running with Scissors for the link

185 The Prince of the Golden Apple maybe? I couldn't find a description though.

185 Inkheart? The plot isn't exactly as you describe, but it's close. And there's a movie too.
185 Ah, ok. Thanks Kris.
185 I'mg glad you could find it :]

Thanks for the link Kris, I was posting on my phone before. I'm still not sure how to link books on the app :o
185 Tess of the D'Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy?
185 Cupcakedoll - it's the same. Amazon is probably confused because not only did the book's title change, so did the author's name.
185 Mirror, Mirror by Nancy Butcher

It's possibly hard to find because new prints of it changed the name. The cover art changed too to look like a generic paranormal YA (ugh)
185 I made a list of kids' time travel fiction from the 1980s. Maybe you can browse it (it's fairly comprehensive, though I'm sure I'm missing some) There are also links to books written in other decades. Good luck!

185 Do you remember what year you read it?
185 Oh yay! I'm glad that's the one!
