I know I haven't been active here for awhile (life got hectic) so I don't necessarily think my vote should carry as much weight as others who have been more consistently active, but FWIW, I'm in favor of limiting shelving to moderators. Yes, many people don't add the URL, and my pet peeve is when books get incorrectly categorized -- an adult book gets shelved as children's/YA or vice-versa, and that seems to happen with some regularity, too.

Throwing this out there: the Hannah series, by
Rhoda Wooldridge I think the first one is
Hannah's Brave Year Each title starts with "Hannah's..."

Possibly the Transall Saga by Gary Paulsen?

Happy to help! Be sure to come back and let us know either way, so we know to mark this solved or keep looking.
Paula Montgomery has some titles that might fit.
Canyon Girl is one (not sure if that's the first or not) MC's name is Hazel, if that helps at all.

You're welcome. Happy to help!

This is
The NethergrimThe first sentence is: "The best horse I ever knew was a bay stallion with a white star on his face."

I think this is the Wind on Fire series, starting with
The Wind Singer

I believe this is The Seeker Chronicles by Betsy James. The first one is
Long Night Dance and the second one is
Dark Heart the third is
Listening at the Gate

Well, the OP didn't specify fiction or non-fiction, so I guess it could be either.

Possibly
Guardian of the Dead? It has a lot of Maori mythology.
Kate's Turn, maybe? The cover seems to fit.
