174195 I agree with Emily. The Four Winds is dark and bleak. I finished it but felt nothing good came out of it. I did like The Great Alone.

174195 For the neuroscience, psychology, mind prompt I plan on reading When We Were Vikings by Andrew David MacDonald. It may be a stretch but I’ve wanted to read it since it came out. This book may be a kinder gentler way to fill the prompt. We’ll see.

174195 The Overstory by Richard Powers & his new release Bewilderment would work for earth day. He is one of my favorite authors. I love telling people The Overstory is 502 pages about trees. It’s about trees. It’s great. I plan on using Bewilderment for the prompt.

174195 I picked The Lincoln Highway.

174195 I have a lot of ongoing series. When I started the Chief Inspector Armand Gamache series I saved the last book for the next year because I didn’t want to finish the series. I just started the Joe Pickett series & Walt Longmire series. They both have about 20 books in the series so I can read those all I want. If I wait too long to read the next book in any series I forget what previously happened so I try to read series with a lot of books or completed.

174195 Hi All. I finished The Obelisk Gate. I put it under Dragons, A book with a letter found in Norbert. My Next read is Crazy Stupid Bromance (Bromance Book Club, #3) by Lyssa Kay Adams . It has a picture of a cat on the cover so if I finish I will probably use it there. I didn't put it under plans because we have ran out of columns again. I figure at this late stage there isn't any use adding more.
Sep 17, 2021 06:13PM

174195 I had a good reading day today. I even listened to an hour of audio while busy. I will finish The Obelisk Gate tomorrow. I have a contemporary romance lined up next. I usually zip through those.

174195 Good Morning All. Finally I read over 100 pages on Thursday. I should have time this afternoon to focus on reading so I hope to have another decent reading day. My goal is to finish The Obelisk Gate Saturday. You all are doing a great job.

174195 I want to thank all the moderators for the great job they are doing. There is a lot going on in the group right now & you all are spot on.

What challenges and distractions have you faced this read-a-thon? I haven't mentioned this but we are getting our house ready to put on the market 9/25. We started two weeks ago cleaning out & packing a room a day. We have been out to the construction site once this week & that is an hour south of where we live.
What is your favorite book so far? I think it will be my current read The Obelisk Gate. I have slowed down a lot reading it because I read The Fifth Season in 2019. So I spend a lot of time trying to remember the characters & what happened.
How's your team and individual challenges going? I'm on Narnia. Thank You Robin for your great leadership. Our team is going great.
When I finish my current read I will finish my individual challenge.
What have you accomplished so far in this read-a-thon? I have completed two books.
What are your goals for the remainder of the read-a-thon? I want to finish four books. I haven't given up that goal. I think it's doable.

174195 Hi All. Another not great reading day but I'm hanging in there. My mornings have been busy but I try to just read in the afternoons. I will see what tomorrow brings.
