1850-Early 1920's. Captains and the Kings by Taylor Caldwell.

I read two 5 star books for July.
Instructions for Dancing by Nicola Yoon. Not for ATY challenge. A YA book about race but not about pain.
Starfish by Lisa Fipps. Not for ATY challenge. Such a strong middle grade book about body positivity.
My honorable mention is Red, White, and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston. Another positive story but Lgbt.

I finished Captains and the Kings by Taylor Caldwell for a long book. It turned out to be a slough. 3 stars. The good thing was I used it for two challenges which doesn't happen often at this point in the year.

I read Captains and the Kings by Taylor Caldwell. 816 pages. 3 stars. Historical Fiction.

Both of the lists prompts are my only up votes.

I second a book that won an award from Powell’s list of book awards

I finished The Art of Theft (Lady Sherlock,#4) by Sherry Thomas. 4 stars. Not for this challenge. I like this series.

I like your suggestion Emily. There are a lot of books there I plan on reading so it would be nice to use them in the challenge.

I finished Red,White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston. 4 stars. I loved this book. Not for this challenge.

I finished American Spy by Lauren Wilkinson. 4 stars. Not for this challenge. I enjoyed it.

The 2020 multi week two books related to each other as a pair of binary opposites was my favorite. I haven’t enjoyed this years multi week prompt. For me 3 weeks is too long.

I finished The Deviant's War: The Homosexual vs. the United States of America by Eric Cervini. 4 stars. Not for this challenge. It is basically a history book of the struggle for gay rights in America & especially with the United States Government. Well written & researched. Very dry & tedious.

There is so much there on the list of Obama’s reads I can work with.

I haven’t been following the discussion on the Obama summer reading list closely. When I saw it suggested my first thought was to also include his list of favorite books for 2021 which comes out toward the end of the year. Then I thought why not include any book from his previous years list? Another thought regarding the world leader suggestions was Camilla,Duchess of Cornwall has a book club. She is definitely not a world leader but would be considered more of a celebrity I guess.

Betty White was on Match Game a lot. She won an Emmy for playing Sue Ann Nivens on the Mary Tyler Moore Show. Her third husband was Allen Ludden. He was the host of Pass Word. She is considered a pioneer of television. She was the first woman to produce a sitcom, Life With Elizabeth. If this becomes a prompt there is a lot to work with here. I went neutral on this suggestion because I figure something would come to me. She is also an animal activist.

I’m in trouble if the symmetrical cover gets in. The cover of Pachinko that Emily posted looked symmetrical to me.

I second a book whose author is younger than you.

I’m excited about all three prompts. I have three books on my TBR list for published 10 years ago or more. I have one book for the vowel challenge. I use military time to tell time. So you could use titles like, Zero Day, Thirteen Hundred, etc.

I read Starfish by Lisa Fipps, not for this challenge. It's a middle grade, poetry, fiction. 5 stars. So good. Very well done. It's quick. I read it in a day. I read it for a book that discusses the body positively. It also discusses bullying at home & school.

I read Big Summer by Jennifer Weiner. 3 stars. I needed a fat positive romance for a different challenge & thought it looked like a good beach read book. I have read Jennifer Weiner before & there are spots in the book where I loose interest but by the end I like the book alright. Same experience.
