174195 Tracy, I’m so sorry to hear this. It’s so disheartening that this is the amount of support we’re providing to our citizens right now.

I’ve gotten away with cooking ground beef in the crockpot. It just ends up a little greasier but you could definitely strain it. In my laziest moments, I’ve put it on over night. My dog eats meat and I often forget until the last minute right before bed.

174195 Like many others, I’ve been struggling to focus lately and hit a slight reading slump. I decided to check out Netgalley to see if there were any interesting books available for request.

I’ve already been approved for a handful of copies and, thankfully, it’s a bit of excitement to my reading routine.

Right now I have:

- Playing Nice by J.P. Delaney
- The Beauty of Your Face by Sahar Mustafah
- The Girl from Widow Hills by Megan Miranda
- Night. Sleep. Death. The Stars. by Joyce Carol Oates

Does anyone else get ARC’s?

You can upload to imgur and then share the link with us. There's not really a need to embed the image so it's immediately visible on the page. Just click 'copy image address' and then paste.

I would love to see bunny pictures!

I got an e-mail from the shelter where I volunteer. They said they're trying to find fosters for all the animals due to the risk of losing staff/volunteers to illness. I felt awful that I can't foster due to your dog/cat.

But we are "fostering" all the houseplants from my husbands work! 😂

174195 I've had my moments where I've thought, "is it really as serious as they say?" But at the end of the day, it's a very small price to pay to stay home for a while if it means lives saved. Especially since both my mom and grandma are in the high risk group. Sure, many of the same thing could be said about the flu but meh, if someone said it was socially acceptable for me to do the same thing during the flu season, then I would (mostly my work obligations). Granted, I've realized that quarantining isn't that much different than my daily habits 😂

174195 It’s great to hear all the stories, just to know we’re all this together :)

I’m a high school therapist and the governor ordered that the schools close from this Tuesday until April 6. I work for an outside agency so we’re scrambling to figure out how to respond. I have a number of clients with risk issues so I don’t feel comfortable letting them go weeks (or longer) without therapy. But I also don’t want to spread the virus between homes. I figure I’ll start calling parents on Monday to figure out how many even want their kids to be seen. Then I will go from there. It’s also possible we will face severe enough restrictions that I won’t have a choice but to stop meetings.

As far as reading, I’ve been about the same so far. I think the tension has made me stay up later at night so I might have read more than normal. Even if I do see kids in the next 3 weeks, it will likely be much shorter days than when I’m in the school. So the reading is definitely one benefit of all this!

174195 I honestly think I would have been fine getting Poisonwood read. But it was the summer read assignment, alongside Heart of Darkness, which I absolutely loathed. Schools have gotten way better with assigning books.

This year I've seen students reading The Book Thief and All the Bright Places 👏🏻

It's funny because I was supposed to read it for my high school honors class. I liked it but I was the typical teenager who just couldn't read a book that I was forced to read. It's been on my TBR ever since.
