Discuss the September 2022 Completist Selection here

I read this one years ago . . . it is very dark and gruesome. Not your typical Western but maybe closer to the truth than Hollywood portrayed it.

To celebrate back to school, the list for September are some of these most popular required reading selections for school.

I meant to come and comment here while I was reading this, but it was such a quick read I was finished before I knew it! Review to come.
This book is pretty stark and may be hard for some to read considering the current political climate of the world. Or, it may be exactly the time to read it!

The time has come again to vote for another BIG read.
VOTE NOW for the book the group will tackle July through September this year.

Discuss our June 2022 Completist Poll winner here

A bit of a surprise winner for our June book considering Starship Troopers led most of the way.
The winner of the June poll is Darkness at Noon by Arthur Koestler

Happy reading in June!

I finished this one up pretty quickly and my review is coming soon.
It is a nice, short mystery that quickly gets to the point but doesn't feel rushed. If nothing else, the nature of the mystery is enhanced by the precariousness of the quick pace.

Click for my review - I liked it . . . but could have probably enjoyed it even more without part 2

I finally finished this recently! Damn you reading slumps!

I have been working through part two and I don't find myself enjoying it as much as part one. It has his moments, but part one felt better overall.
Maybe it is the same as now when an author gets edited down to the basics for their early works but once they have popularity they are given more freedom to write whatever they want and it tends to get more sprawling and less tight in the flow (I hope that makes sense!)

You mention it seeming familiar - I know at some point I watched a movie version and I am pretty sure I watched a stage play version. So, I guarantee several times I will be saying to myself "That is where I remember that from!"
