154447 I was thinking about Bookbub again.
Has anyone been accepted yet?

They have author profiles, which is new to me, since the last time I was there.

Regardless, I have decided one thing - they are making some serious money.

154447 To be fair... I haven't written Butt Stuff; In Space! :D
Not yet anyways!

Working on it next though!

Bonus - I can use it for all of my books to save time.
Butt Stuff Happens - Again!
Butt Stuff Happens - Yet Again!
Butt Stuff Happens - In Space!

Side Note: I am going to use this on twitter now.

154447 I like this idea. I bet can get mine down really short!

Blurb:
A virtual world perverted.
An ancient threat ignored.
A spunky elf pantsless.

Industry giant Tornado Tech Games has just released their latest masterpiece, the massively multi-player online role playing game Annals of Gentalia. Anders, the plucky elf Night Ranger is pumped to explore its most secret depths.

But things are not always how they seem in the virtual world. When the elf accidentally breaks into the hidden code of the game, his play experience is forever altered. Everyone has to adapt to a game world where the once normal monsters are now charged with sexual energy. Anders ends up setting off on an epic journey to save his own ass.

As the world quickly plummets into chaos around him, a vital question lingers. What kind of video game would willingly release a horde of sex crazed monsters into the world? More importantly to Anders, where can an elf get some pants around here!?

*Warning - Contains sexy M/M scenes and vigorous monster banging.

Blurbette:
Butt Stuff Happens.

154447 Don't stress over it. You can literally just tell people you are a unicorn wrangler that lives in the centre of the sun.
(I don't think anyone has noticed that bio on my webpage yet honestly.)

:)

154447 Just so you know, it probably isn't even available free there.
They are identity thieves.

Here is the kicker. They are not targeting your readers. They are targeting you. They want you to see if it is actually free there and click their link, and after that. Bang. You are theirs.

I am sure if I looked for my book it is also there, or anyone else's in this group.

The moral though? They want you to investigate. They know you google yourself. They generate pages for every book they can see. They are scum.

But they are scum that wants you! Kind of heartwarming when you think about it!
Three covers (16 new)

154447 The first cover is... Romance? Quiet, with... your boss?
The second cover is... Sci-Fi Romance? Contemplative, with... your friend?
The third cover is... Erotic Sci-Fi Romance? Subtle, with... a bad boy?

That is the best that I can figure that they are about by looking at them. Side note: The last one looks like he is a sexy space giant! Now that is a good story right there.

154447 I order copies of my book from CreateSpace and sell them to people in the real world.
So far I have ordered 50 books total, and have only 2 left. I gave away 2 on Goodreads Giveaway (1 at a time), 4 to beta readers, 1 to a bookseller at an expo who gave me a bunch of information because his wife liked it, and 1 to John Barrowman.

But... that is 42 physical sales. 10 were to bookstores. Sure, I've only sold like 6 through CreateSpace, but... well... 42 personal sales. (I wish Amazon would add those to my stats!)
I would say it has been more than worth it to get both formats.

154447 Your story is as long as it needs to be, not a word count number! Do not destroy it to fit.
154447 Oh... well... snap.
$119? 100 free books?

Double Snap.

154447 The chapter 1 hook doesn't need to even be the final plot hook, but at least something to inspire people to keep reading is useful I think!

154447 There are this many Amazon results when searching book titles within kindle books. Something to consider.

# 1 Solace - 320
# 2 Atonement - 792
# 3 Closer to Love - 59
# 4 Leaving The River - 5
# 5 It’s Too Late To Say Sorry -1
# 6 Is It Too Late To Say I’m Sorry - 14

I would say... one of the last 3. :)

154447 Why is this cover so thin? Was there a problem when posting the size, or is this the true size?

I assume you want a critique? That is why it is here, yes?

As it is now this cover tells me nothing correct about the book other than you wrote it and the name is Cold. If I had to guess, I would think this is a survival thriller about a person that fell into ice. I would not expect erotica in the slightest.

That is a problem I think. The wrong reader will pick up this book and be disappointed. The right readers will not pick it up.

I fail to see how a headless torso gives away any plot, other than there is sexy things happening? Can you elaborate?

I can see that 100%!

154447 One of my characters indeed has a song.
Very literally in fact.

Equal Opportunity (Spoiler Here) is the name of the song.

A song was actually written about her by a fictional band also in the novels. It isn't all that flattering, so she likes to forget it exists, but no one else can once they find out about it.

It is referenced a few times, and some lines are quoted. I have no idea what it sounds like, but I do know that it is angsty!
154447 Normally I forget music is a thing.
(I'm odd like that)

However, with my short stories I have started to write while listening to the soundtracks of the games I am parodying. The music has influenced the stories more than I thought.

I think I will keep doing it.

154447 Just lock this thread now. It will not end well.

154447 Here, I found my example:

For this to work in Createspace and in a printed format was a piece of cake compared to an ebook file.
As an ebook only certain devices can even open it, as it is a print replica and not an .epub.

For me, it was worth it. But for you? Not sure. But making it happen in print is not a chore compared to the ebook, so maybe you could try both?
May 11, 2016 12:33PM

154447 Createspace lets you make your book however you want. It is great like that. Whatever fonts you use are the fonts that show up.
I even have text messages in little boxes that mimic how they look on the phone. It can work very well as a visual cue.

Ebook files however only allow certain fonts, like 8 or so. Not sure where those are listed, but they are very limited. People can change the fonts as well, so I don't know if yours are even guaranteed to stay. You are probably better off having online chat in italics or something for this format.

Unless you are crazy, like I am, and turn your book into a print replica.
