Oh my when she got hit in the eye all I could think of she needs ice! But of course they don’t have one. That poor girl will have a shiner!
Glad Matthew wanted to be her friend even after what her dad said to his dad.

So glad I decided to do a chapter a day I should do this every month!
So glad she was able to go to school but sad that there aren’t many kids her age. Glad she has a boy her age. Just wish she’d find a way to share and be his friend. Wish there were some girls she could talk to too.
Her mom flirting isn’t a good thing it will just start trouble.
Until tomorrow as I move onto chapter 6 and the next thread.

If Bo had all these relatives why didn’t he give the land and house to them? Doesn’t it seem odd that he gave it to a friend who he only knew for a short time.
Also Strange that everyone walks around with guns.
Winter for 10 months stinks! I doubt I could live in Alaska where it’s cold all the time.

Wow what a chapter! I was getting scared when they went into the store and the lady gave them whistles because of bears. I wear a whistle every day at school but can you imagine wearing one every day around your house? Sounded like there are no people around or very few!
Also I kept thinking the bus was like what we take to the city but I think it was smaller since they put it on the ferry boat. Maybe it was your size of an suv like we drive now?
Omg when they got to the house and the house was the size of a shack and smelled and bugs on the floor! Plus the bathroom being outside. I could not imagine living without electricity, running water and bathroom for months and years. It’s going to be very interesting how they are going to survive. It’s more like camping ⛺️

We learn that Leni grandmother is rich or has money to spare and she doesn’t approve of her dad. Is he abusive? The dad also wiped out their savings. They seem to have had some rough times. Feel bad for leni since she had to switch schools often.
Until tomorrow

This is going to be heartbreaking! In 1974 I was 4 years old and my dad also served in Vietnam. He also had drinking problem while I was growing up. My parents used to fight often too but they are still together. That’s great they inherited a house by his friend but I’m sure the nightmares will continue as they did for my dad.
Until tomorrow
